How so?

If a wings fan told you that they hated Bertuzzi could you really blame them?

If Claude Lemieux went to Detroit in the middle of the rivalry would you have hated him?

I sure as hell know that if the wings dealt for Marchand or Pronger I would still get serious pleasure if they were knocked unconscious. Call me a horrible person or whatever, but thats the way I feel. If you really hate somebody you really hate somebody, that feeling doesnt magically go away when they put a wings jersey on.

I think Bert's biggest problem is that he's a shade of his former self. If he still bulled his way to the net, ran people through the boards, and put 30+ goals on the board, people would love him. Same with Pronger, and even Claude. Claude came in, put up 15+ goals in a cup run, and people wouldn't have a problem with him. There'd be some people who'd still be iffy about them, and some who would say they'd never like them, but winning and production change a lot of minds. Just look at Chelios.

In some cases yea, and obviously opinions would vary between everyone but I could never see myself rooting for Pronger or Claude. But good point with Chelios.

I love the team. I can hate players on the team. The players are not the team. The team was there decades before they ever played on it, and it'll be there long after they're retired and died.

If a player is dragging the team down, I'm going to rag on that player. Period.

Same problem with Cleary and Samuelsson too. Apparently Babcock and Holland think its still 2006

I love the team not the name on the back. Unless the name happens to be spelled Datsyuk. In which case he could kick puppies and trip old blind ladies crossing the road and all would still be forgiven.

Recent matchups at even strength:

Sedin had Sedin.
Richards had Carter.
Thornton had Couture.
Toews had Hossa.

Datsyuk had Lol.

I think it's unacceptable to see Datsyuk get over 2 minutes less even strength ice time than Brunner and Franzen. And I know Babcock has and will always be a Z guy, but I find it unacceptable that he had over 4 minutes more even strength ice time than Datsyuk.

It's really frustrating.

It almost feels like Babcock wants to get fired, but that's stupid. So wtf is going on?

How much of this is on Holland? Is he the one who calls guys up or is Babcock making decisions?

PPG player in the AHL should be up with the big club with this many injuries. Yet he isn't.

I just don't get it anymore.

Datsyuk plays on the PK so I can understand that. I won't give him hell for that. Also, that would mean 2 more minutes of Gator and Cleary.

So Cleary belongs on the PP and in the top 6, and Samuelsson is the missing piece to the Power Play? Yeah, I think they are a little out of touch.

With the lines as they were, ice time hardly matters

Notice in the interview today he credited the Chicago Blackhawks for rebuilding their team after taking it apart? Then he went on to say that Detroit lacked depth up front...

Rubbing the GM's nose in it? Maybe. Wouldn't be the first time

The sad part is that Abdelkader is even in the NHL. Talk about worthless. He has 1 point and -6 and he's playing with Datsyuk. I just can't wrap my head around that.

I work nights so I missed anything to do with the game, but what you say isn't out of the ordinary. I don't understand his attitude.

Used to disagree a lot with you, but I'm 100% on your side on this one.

Z had more time on the PP and PK today, yet still had over 4 minutes more at even strength.

It's bad asset management on Babcock's part. Here's an idea, throw Datsyuk out for a few shifts with different lines.

A lot of coaches try to take advantage of star players with different opportunities and looks.

What is really pathetic is there are so many times that Babs tries a line combo and scraps it about 10 minutes in if it doesn't work, but he has stuck with Abby, Dats, Cleary for like 10 games.

It's absolutely pathetic.

I love Abdelkader on the 4th line and I don't mind cleary on the 3rd line or 4th line but this second line garbage cannot continue.

I think Babcock is going to do some kind of line switching next game. I hope?

Look at the nightly scratched/injured list, and see where they would be playing if they were in the lineup.

Call me crazy, but has Cleary been off Datsyuk's line for even a game?

I only vaguely remember him Datsyuk not having him on his line early on the season when he had Filppula and Franzen for a period or so.

Early on, they started with Dats/Z/Brunner; then scrapped it and IIRC Dats was briefly with Flip/Bert. Then came injuries, and Cleary.
