And, to bring it back to the post about Desharnais - if anything DD has less of that cerebral, 3rd man in attitude than Plekanec, Eller or Galchenyuk.

I don't think you re-arrange roles strictly by size. I rarely saw Tyler Kennedy hang back as the 3rd man in to let Staal or Malkin go kamikaze.

I know, but I noticed Cole's last couple games, he'd be the first man in and dump the puck for the next guy, who happened to be Gionta, who'd get hit and lose the board battle and the puck would go the other way. I'd rather an Eller/Prust/Patches board battle and have Gally come in later and crash the net or snipe in the slot whenever possible.

He's more Cammalleri with Fleury's fearlessness.

We are spoiled silly to have him as a Hab. What a treat to watch every shift, plays with more heart than any player I have ever seen EVER. The way he fearlessly and continually cuts to the net?

i think i've already said this... but if this kid can stay relatively healthy, WOW, what a career he's going to have!

best part is that his on-ice intensity/passion is equally matched by his off-ice/off-season dedication to getting better.

whereas Fleury (whom seems an apt comparison in many ways... even drafted in the same ballpark) was a hard working/hard partying guy, what i've heard of Gallagher is that he's a pretty straight laced kid off-ice, more focused on healthy-living/taking care of himself to find every edge possible, than Fleury ever was.

he's got future superstar written all over him if he can stay on the ice and out of the trainers room

He reminds me of a faster younger better version of Ryder or Cammy

He was terrific last night against the Pens. He's such a tremendous forechecker. It'll be interesting to see how he does against a much bigger and better Bruins D.

Whether people like it or not, we wish he'd be our own Brad Marchand. That's how good we hope he should become.

That's exactly what I was about to reply when I read the thread's title.

He's got about the same physical make up, and I think, a bit more goal scoring talent. Marchand is pretty good defensively. Both can easily get under other players' skins.

He is not afraid to get hurt...

But once galchenyuk wakes the **** up and realizes he is playing with men so he needs to start playing like one ( hitting, Fearlessly rushing ) Then LOOK THE **** OUT and watch for pacioretty-galchenyuk-gallagher. <--- amazing line once alex wakes up from dream hab land.

Man this guy pissed me off like crazy when he played the Leafs last Wednesday. And then watching him as a neutral fan yesterday against Pittsburgh, he's a gem. As much as it pains me to say it, he looks like a great piece for u guys and he's earning my respect. I love fearless play, especially when it's accompanied by skill like Gallagher has.

Does that mean 1/3 of his shots can be expected to go in?

He could very much become our Eberle. Granted, people had expectations for Eberle but no one thought he would turn out as good as he has. Gallagher is floating along those lines but I want a full season before I cement any bold predictions. Desharnais had one great year and has completely cooled off.

Why are you bashing Galchenyuk in like 5 different threads?

The only reason people don't like Marchand is his mouth. He's a great hockey player who cries wolf.

I'd take Gallagher over Marchand right now.

Another beast of a game. What a stud.

If he keeps this up... I think he'll run away with the Calder...

He's now +12, first in the team followed by Prust at +10 and Pacioretty at +8!

Gotta say he's by far my favorite new player on the Habs this year. I really like his playstyle, and just hope he can stay healthy, he'll clearly become a huge target for opposing D-Men

But wow, was he great this week-end against the 2 other top teams in the East.

5 points behind Conacher for the rookie lead in scoring with 3 less GP, 3 minutes less played per game and +11 better than him.
