Some fans, sure.
Relax

Just something I found funny about that play. A few other players would have been pummeled for that.

G:

- Better in the defensive zone. Lots of sticks on pucks, less chasing.
- Good play from most of the blueline. Ehrhoff was solid. Sekera sound positionally and hard to beat, as usual. Myers played a simple game and didn't have a gaff. Weber looked good.
- I really like the Flynn - Porter - Kaleta line. Speed and hustle.
- Ott and Gerbe have something going. The way Ott is playing, he deserves a letter.
- Hodgson does so many little things well. I really like how his game is coming along.

B:
- The shootout.
- Sabres looked faster, but they still looked a step slower than the Rangers almost all night.

U:
- The call on Kaleta was reputation based. It shouldn't have been.
- Buffalo should decline powerplays.
- Ray "4-on-3 is better than a 5-on-3."

I'm not fired up, I'm relaxed. I just found it odd. Wanted to clarify.

Goes w/o saying, but will say it anyway: BUF's Patrik Kaleta to have disciplinary hearing with NHL for hit from behind on NYR Brad Richards.
@TSNBobMcKenzie
Unclear whether it's in-person (allows for 6 or more games) or phone (5 or less). Guessing it's the latter but that's only a guess.

Is there sudden memory loss on this board?

I can remember many instances when players were rip for doing nothing, not even looking at the opposing player. Which in fact Ott didn't do. He didn't even acknowledge it took place. I could care less about the fact that he did nothing. Its the smart play.

I'm just commenting on the fact that if others like Pommer, Stafford, Foligno would have done the same amount of nothing they likely have been ripped by a good chunk of fans. This is not an earth shattering statement.

G: An honest effort.
B: It's too bad our PP sucks or else we'd be leaving NY with more than a loser point.
U: A total dope play by Kaleta and deserving of every game he'll get from Shanahan.

You'd have no idea one of our players was boarded face first by looking at any of the official media guys in the league.

I'm loving the new sabres.
What do we have 23 games left? Probably need to go like 16-4-3 to make the playoffs

Nothing .. that boarding penalty is no different from all the other "hockey plays" Ennis gets taken out on due to his agility .. maybe if his nameplate read Briere he'd maybe get better calls, but he's more likely to get hurt than garner any protection from officials .. that's the current state of the NHL.

I like the way this team is playing 5 on 5. And the line combo's under Rolston.

But I dislike the personnel choice and the strategy employed on the pp or any man advantage. We could have closed the game out in the 5 min OT but our PP seems to be focused on getting the puck to Ehrhoff for the big shot. Doesn't work when the opponent stacks up their D in the slot and dares you to get the puck thru. Kinda of slow-witted when compared to what the Rags did to us 5 on 3.

I like the way the team is attacking the puck and play a lot more and using team speed with good support. I was surprised by the jump they had in this game (on a b2b).

Rolston said they need to skate faster and harder and they are. And we are all seeing the improvement in play.

Grigs is not looking as lost. Stafford might be starting to come around, Hecht's play has improved. Ott is impressing me big time with his play (always liked his hustle and physical style.)

I think Gerbe has finally hit his stride after his injury. It sometimes takes players 10 or more games to get back to their game after a bad injury. Plus he's getting ice time, building confidence and playing his best pest style of game.

Myers continues to concern me. Two steps forward, then one step back. Ehrhoff and Weber were solid. Liked Flynn's small contributions too.

I think Miller lost his game after the Kaleta/Richards penalty. A couple of his later saves were very lucky. Post, cross bar combo, missed open nets, etc.... Worse he didn't get much work late in the game and he was terrible in the shoot out (I think in part), as a result. Totally dominated by Nash and Callahan. Biting on fakes, etc..

Kaleta's xcheck was normal - anywhere else on the ice..... but NOT 4 feet from the boards!. Extremely stupid!!

And while the league will over-react, he does deserve a couple of games. Too bad he will get 5 - 6 or more....

Strangely, Richards coming back on ice seemed to fire the Sabres up.... sort of like what kind of B.S. is this?

It's true that Kaleta's hit changed (and lost us) the game by firing the Rags up. But we still had a solid chance to win it in the OT. That PP strategy has got to go (and who ever is the author of the strategy too.)

Overall, I'm now starting to see the Sabres team I was expecting this season. Prone to rookie mistakes but entertaining and building towards the future.

Fun game to watch.

Yep. Shannahan has had very little to work with thus far I'm sure he can't wait to "make the league a better place". I'm guessing Kaleta gets 5 games, possibly more.

I'll say a game for Girardi, 5 for Kaleta. Possibly more for Kaleta.
