The Sens lost in a shootout which is a crap shoot ... the point is they played even with the Ilanders for 65 minutes. They still got a point & are tied with Pittsburgh for 3rd place two pts out of first. As a fan base we have to stop panicking everytime they lose especially if it's from the shootout when we get a point. Who would have thought after losing so many players through injury that they would still be in a playoff hunt? THEY ARE DOING GREAT CONSIDERING THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

With our current toughness situation, we will wear out quickly in a 7 game series with most of the teams on that list.

Just because lack of offense is the primary issue, doesn't mean that lack of toughness isn't an issue.
And with our current scoring situation, we probably won't score enough to beat any team in a 7 game series, let alone the ones on your list.

I was real pleased with Neil's restraint all game today. A few time's I thought he was about to blow a gasket but he kept his cool. Especially when Okposo hit Condra in the last 2 mins to get a PP I was praaaaying Neil doesn't take a penalty too lol

Agreed. We desperately need to improve the offense of this team.

Exactly. .500 hockey is fantastic IMO. A point on the road in any building is a fine result as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly! And like you said, it's tougher to get those skilled guys not so much toughness.

Probably will have to wait until the off-season to upgrade our team meaningfully, so go out and get a guy whose job is to drop the gloves when needed.

Can't wait for Spezza & Michalek to get back!

Too bad Karlsson won't be around for the playoffs too!

This. For every 1 game you lose ''because'' you were outmuscled or bullied, you lose 4 because you simply played worse as a team. Being generous here.

Maybe you'd like to see a response from the team after a hit, or the team hit more, whatever. That's cool and all, but that's not what wins you games. Responding by putting the puck in the net wins you games

Physical play and intimidation help win games. People can't possibly believe that the physical side of the game has no impact on the outcome.

Hits and intimidation lead to turnovers, turnovers lead to puck possession, puck possession leads to scoring chances.

Do I want all of our players to be like Rinaldo? No. But this team has had the same problem forever.

Last year in the playoffs we needed Carkner to come in Game 2 to deal with Boyle punking EK. Why not Neil, Smith, Greening, etc??

This year when Cooke hit EK and took him out for the year. Nobody did anything till there was a minute left in the game. A few glove punches. Big deal. Dont give me the "they were in shock" "they cared more about the 2 points" excuse either.

Same thing yesterday when Talbot chops Bishop well after the puck is covered. You cant accept that. They looked like losers and didnt get the 2 points.
I endorse this position.

too bad we can't convert the scoring chances right now bc don't have enough finishers.

we're fine in terms of hits and intimidation. we're not tops in the league, but we're definitively not bottom.

Still couldn't beat a team of smurfs who were playing their 2nd game in two nights on the road with their backup goalie.

Please, standing up for your teammate? Nah its much better being pushed around as long as you get powerplays. Cause those type of teams go really far in the playoffs. Just ask the 07 ducks, 09 pens, 10 hawks, 11 bruins and 12 kings.

WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP! ALL THOSE GAMES OTTAWA WON LIKE THAT MEANT NOTHING!!!

Ottawa was the "cats meow" during the regular season...whoop dee doo. The rest of the league knew they'd bully us in the playoffs, and they did!!!

I hated those past Ottawa teams, especially with Jack Martin, what a horrible horrible coach.

When I see no response from this team it scares the crap outta me, I dont want this team to be like the Ottawa teams from the past!!!

See Chara's face there? He is genuinely angry that his team mate got abused. I've seen none of that from this team. None. Say what you will, but no one would like to take a pounding like that from Angry Chara. That guy will think again next time.

You see these rats running around then not answering the bell. Cooke, Martin yesterday, Harry whatshisname on Saturday. They make a dirty play then don't answer for it. Guess what? They keep doing it. If they won't answer for it, your only recourse is to nail their star player. Maybe their dressing room will tell Cooke to stop if Gryba goes for the high hit on Crosby or Tavares takes a slew foot for Martin"s antics.

This crap about Smith/Neil being to important to the team to be out 5 mins is stupid. All of the sudden, They're Spezza and Michalek? No. They are what they are and should play like that.

.. and because of the response from Chara, the Bruins had to kill penalties and play their best player 16 minutes instead of 26 or 30 or whatever it would be in a tight game. Sure, they'll probably win the division anyway and can afford to do stuff like this but not everyone can worry more about message-sending than point-getting.
