I would love to get my hands on Calgary, just so I could sell the farm, alot of solid but aging pieces, the team is going downhill and i don't see how managment is so delusional.
Flames came out and said they made a few trade offers originally, but Colorado wanted too much.

On the other hand, Giordano is certainly a target.

from the Flyers, I'd offer:

Read
Laughton
Meszaros
1st

and maybe ask for a serviceable roster player or a 2nd back along with Jaybo, or just drop the 1st.

it's a lot of pretty good stuff. people will try to argue that there's no way without Couts or Schenn, but as with the Nash trade, you don't necessarily get blue chips when you're trying to fill a lot of holes. it's a lot of good parts for a rebuilding team to receive, and a fair price for a competing team to sacrifice.

Are you kidding me? You would trade. Top prospect, a first round pick, and a young 25 goal scorer signed for 900,000 for J-Bo? Not too mention a top 4 dman..Are you kidding me... Is he not a UFA at the end of this year? Has he not been average in Calgary? Has he ever played in the playoffs?!

Then drop the first and ask for a second. Mesz could be a second pairing anchor or an IR regular. Laughton could be a 3rd liner tops, albeit a very good one. Read is what he is, but the Flyers are about to open the pocketbook to Perry anyway.

Next year, I'd offer Laughton+Mezsaros+1st possibly another mid round pick or a longer shot prospect, like Noebels

Gotta give up a lot to get a clutch big game player, who really shines in the playoffs when it matters................

Listen j-Bo is a really good defenseman but not the way some of the people are talking here.... Plus I'm not sure he is the type of player to handle the pressure Philly can bring

I'm with you, at 4 million he is valuable, but at his current cap hot not even close

I care more about what Holmgren is willing to give up.

If holmgren gets antsy and goes after a dman with a significant deal it wouldn't be for j-Bo IMO, just a bad fit for Philly all around

He's big and mobile and can produce offense and hit hard. He hasn't looked as great in the last few years as he did in his first few, yes, but on a good team with a new start he could be a hammer.

People give him a reputation I think he doesn't deserve. "isn't clutch..." like, what? Who has he played with to help in any way? When can you be "clutch" on the teams he's played on? Not really his fault he's played on mediocre-to-terrible teams his whole career.

Rest of this season and next you can roll Timonen/Coburn/Schenn/Jaybo/Grossmann,work on finding that stud #1 in the draft. Meanwhile you have a pretty strong defense that can punish people.

I have never know jaybo to be physical at all, and you saying a new team "could" change him from his mediocrity back to what he was early on? Well that's why I wouldn't give up a lot for "could"... I know he has been in bad situations in the NHL to try to shine, but it's not like he carries his team like some other big time dmen do.... His lack of or bad postseason play dates back before he got to the NHL

As flawed as JBO is he would still be your number one in an instant.

You better be trading for Nick Lidstrom if you want to accomplish that
