Probably not the right time to scratch him. He managed to play to a +3 against Montreal in a game where we gave up 6 ES goals. I didn't notice any egregious turnovers for the first time in a while with him either. I think getting away from Letang will help both him and Letang. They are not good partners and do better with other players paired with them.
Eaton also played around 20 minutes last game and looked fine.
Despres looked good too in his 15 or so minutes and I thought Bennett played his best period as a Pen in the 1st and then got 5 shifts the rest of the game and possibly healthy scratched tonight. I don't get DB sometimes either. I can defend him to a point but it's almost like decides his lineup by sitting in a chair in his coaches office playing darts.

Malkin working on top PP unit with Crosby, Neal, Kunitz and Letang. #Pens
IMO, sounds like Malkin wants to go, pending impact test result (if not already done).
And, it looks like Bennett might not be the only infuriating scratch tonight.
I'll preface with saying - these are just practice lines. I know things can change.
However - it's very frustrating watching what Bylsma is doing. TK, when he was playing amazing hockey, averaged 8 minutes a game. Now that he's a complete wreck, he gets all the ice time and his spot is secure. How is that happening?
And for crying out loud.. someone tell me how ANYONE could possibly bench BB or Despres right now? They are playing superb hockey. We got Eaton to have as an 8th. That doesn't mean we have to plug him into the damn line up every night. How the hell does this happen? How does it keep happening to our best consistent players (for their role) such as Despres, Vitale, Bort, & lord knows DJ will be a healthy scratch, too. Or they'll just limit DJ's minutes even though he showed great ability w/ more and more shifts.
I'm convinced that Tyler Kennedy has some type of incriminating pictures of Bylsma, possibly with a farm animal. There's really no other explanation for him being in the lineup. Same could be said for Tanner Glass. Why not leave Bennett on the 2nd line w/ Geno, move Cooke back to the 3rd, and move TK to a deck hockey team?
I doubt Depres is sitting. I'm okay with them playing Eaton over Bort while Martin is hurt to get him some experience again in our system. It's been awhile and they need to spread the playing around. I think Orpik should be sat but at the same time maybe the coaches want him to play through it, I have no idea what they are thinking
If Bennett is being sent down, I am not surprised, I never thought he would stick and I think he can take what he learned up here and be more dominant in the AHL and ready for another callup later in the year if need be. Hopefully its only for a bit until we ship TK out of town
Wait a minute...Malkin may be coming back so we will scratch BB AND Despres? wow...just wow....if this happens, how anyone can support Bylsma anymore must have problems themselves. Bylsma? go **** yourself! how does this even help the developement of the rookies? pun ish them for doing good. What kind of a message are you sending the team? Vets play bad, they get rewarded. Rookies play AWESOME they sit? Strait/Tangradi have a point when it comes to Bylsma. If Bylsma leads Pens to another 1st round exit and we STILL keep Bylsma next season, Mario needs to fire coach AND GM.

Y'know it's funny in a pathetic kind of way. We all want one more elite winger for Geno or Sid but even if RS got us one, DB would probably scratch him night in night out for some dime-a-dozen hack like TK.
