I think Gunnarsson is going to be a great pick, especially as a 2nd time guy. Not too many of those make it, but I could see him doing it.

6'4" puck moving defensemen don't grow on trees, so get em while you can.

From what I saw of Dumba in the Scrimmages this year, I really can't wait to have his shot on the PP.

How is his skating ability?? Know very little about him other than seems to be an offensive threat in a very defensive league as far as from a defense man's standpoint. I can't recall much about his skating from the 2 times I watched him play..I thought that was a knock on him but can't remember?

I remember thinking he had a strange skating technique when watching him at the prospect scrimmage. He was basically standing straight up.

Yeah, he was skating very matter-of-factly, almost upright. But he's still a good skater, agile, mobile and reasonably fast. Not a pylon by any means.

I'm still a bit of a doubter on Dumba but my worries were eased after the training camp. He seems to have gotten good advice and taken it to stride. Wish he's have gotten at least one game tho

Jaric any way you can work your magic and do a split of Dumba's stats he started playing much better later in the year. kinda project what if he had played solid all along

I might do the same thing with Bulmer, if he ever stays on the ice. Bulmer is the new Cuma?

He has 14 points in 14 games since returning from the Wild and is a +10. The good +/- is pretty encouraging, considering how many points he gets on the PP.

He actually started the season pretty well, too, scoring 10 points in his first 16 games. I'm not sure what happened in the middle, whether he was thinking about the WJC too much, or coaching, or just not playing well, but if he had played the whole year somewhat resembling how he has played month, he would have much fewer detractors.

Thank you, yeah his play seems to have really picked up. Its a good sign because sometime a guy who gets cut can sulk, but he seems to be trying to work on his game so he sticks next year.

I want to see more of Gunnarsson. 2012-13 Luleå Elitserien 53 6 11 17.

Not huge numbers, but good enough to be top-20 in scoring in the league for a Dman and #1 in points for a Dman on his team. And the other parts of his game were supposed to be the strong parts.

I'm surprised that no NHL team hasn't thrown money to Antti Raanta yet. Raanta has played lights out with Ässät in SM-Liiga this season. In 43 games, 1.84 GAA and 94.3% SV...

And he's only turning 24 this year.. Seems to be his breakthrough season.

Hmm...sounds interesting.

Hopefully the Wild drops all the dead weight this off-season and goes for some guys like Schmidt, Leblanc, and this Raanta guy. Can't hurt to have even more guys in the pipeline

Yep, I've been thinking the same.

I'll bet he goes to KHL though, like Vehanen.

Raanta is Fasth 2.0

He's lateral movement is now true nhl caliber he's "always" there and not like bäcks that looks like some matrix dude when he TRIES to change position in time to make a save but dont make it

The question is is raanta a one season wonder or is this the new prolific game of he's

You have to think that raanta might well be a columbus player next season unless wild puts their claws on him fast i doubt they do with the wealth off goalies wild has but it might be like giving columbus their 1 building block for free

Raanta has been a sleeper cell so far always being the 2 goalie

I actually remember him being pretty good. Very mobile for how big he is, is what I remember from the scrimmage

Should have mentioned this a couple days ago:

SEL regular season is over, Luleå finishes 3rd in the league. They will play Frölunda in the playoffs.

Gustafsson finishes 4th in the league (youngest player in the top 15) with .933 SVS%, 1.70 GAA, and 4 SO.

Gunnarsson finishes the season +11 and 17 points in 53 games (5 of those points came in the last 6 games)

Haula finishes the regular season 2nd in scoring in the WCHA, tied for 1st in points-per-game. Tied for 4th nationally in points-per-game.

Neat.

1g, 4a for Bussieres in a 8-1 win tonight.

BTW, his team is ranked 6th in the CHL. (3 leagues combined)
