OK Pittsburgh Fans...What would you want for Joe Vitale and what are your needs?

Another one of those "more valuable to the team than the trade market" type of players. We drafted him in the 7th round in 2005, he's a good 4th line center, not really a trade-able player.

^ Agreed. He's similar to Engelland in that he has more value to us than he will in trade. We need a top 2 line winger and maybe a big shutdown D-Man. Vitale won't fetch that. He'd probably get us a middle to late round pick. Not worth moving him for that.

Would you do it for a second round pick?

Yes.

No thanks. The 2nd round pick just doesn't help us on the ice right now. The value isn't bad, in fact, you might be overpaying. But I think I speak for most Pens fans when I say, "thanks, but no thanks" ...there are plenty around that do a lot more talking than me though, I'm sure they'll be here any minute...

Yes, don't see why another team would give up a 2nd for him.

Agreed. Especially Edmonton since they'll probably have a fairly high 2nd.

Or...maybe I was just speaking for myself. Ahem, well then...

Personally, I wouldn't take that much speed out of the bottom six. It's "average at best" speed from Cooke, Glass, Adams and Jeffrey...makes me a little uneasy just to get a draft pick. A draft pick that the fan base will bemoan anyway when it's exchanged for another PMD...

I know what you mean. But he is a 4th line center and that's an easy position to fill for a GM. If a team offered you a 2nd round pick for a 4th line center, I think you accept the trade.

The Penguins could replace him in house right now, or look elsewhere on the free agent market.

I do like Vitale, and wouldn't trade just to trade him, but a 2nd round pick, you can use that on a higher quality asset or use it to trade up in the 1st round.

There just simply isn't anything any team could offer that would equal or even come close to the value of the mighty Joe Vitale.

as a member of the Cult of Joe Vitale, i'd be remiss if i didn't chime in here with a big "no way" when it comes to trading him.

hyperbole and joking aside, he's worth more to the Pens than they could get for him in a trade. he hustles his ass off every shift. he won't score points nearly as often as other players but he works hard whenever he's called on.
