What would it take? Beau Bennett and 1st round pick?

They talked about Iginla being traded to Pittsburgh briefly on hockey central today. Funny Garrioch is looking to take all the credit. It was entirely 100% pure speculation with zero basis.

This "rumor" has no wings.

Iginla on Pittsburgh would be scary good.

I have a feeling he won't get traded though.

My favourite part of the article is where it says "If Iginla is traded to the Pens, he will not have to clear waivers first"

Such morons writing this crap.

They actually talked about this in the Calgary Sum today. While no a rumor, it is definitely creating a buzz. Both sadly and gladly though, I believe Iginla will remain a Flame for every game of his NHL career.

Furthermore, there is 3 different ways to go about it. The first is what I would call the Mike Modano, which I think is the most classless move in my recent memory (sorry Stars fans, there may be more to this). The second is the Sundin, which left a sour taste in Leaf fans mouthes AT THE TIME. Obviously he goes down as one of the best, but he may not have done the best for the boys in blue at time of departure. The third would be the Ray Bourque, full of class and respect. This is, of course, discluding the Lidstrom possibility, which I see as most likely occurring.

Yes in fact he has really worked on getting his defensive game up this year, as long as he is in a offensive system he tries to play defense to get the puck up the ice in a defensive system he becomes frustrated and tries to force offense.

i think the people writing those articles are just looking for something to post so they head to HFBoards' Trade Rumors forum and pluck one of the millions of Iginla to Pittsburgh threads and run with it.

It damn well better be true.
Shero better be asking about every top 6 winger available right now.
They need serious help in thier bottom six (anyone not named Sutter) and Cooke and Dupuis are just the guys to do it.

The tough thing for Shero though, is it's gonna probably cost him Despres to get what he wants. I imagine theres alot of interest in Harrington as well.

Pittsburgh has an h at the end but Iginla to Pittsburgh does seem to make sense for all parties involved as long as Iggy is willing to move. I'm sure the Pens have some prospects that interest Calgary and Iginla is certainly a good fit for the Pens.

Iginla is exactly what the Pens need. The biggest problem will be his salary and how do the Pens retain all their guys that are unrestricted in the very near future.

Calgary will want a package similar to Nash.

I suspect the Penguins and the Bruins would be the front runners for Iggy.

DO

NOT

WANT.

Not at the cost being talked about here. Not for a rental. Shero should be diligently looking for a long term solution at wing. Not a rental for the cost of two firsts and a roster player as is being talked about in all of these threads.

I would not include a 1st round pick no matter what for Iggy. 2 years is max I see as him being effective. Just not worth it when this draft is loaded with forwards.

Nash was signed long term. Iggy might only be in Pittsburgh a matter of weeks before returning to Calgary. Is that not a huge difference?

Nash is 7 years younger and was signed for something like five more years. No way Iginla gets the same package as a rental. If he does, some GM is an absolute moron and I sincerely hope it isn't Ray Shero.

I certainly would welcome Iginla but it would depend on the price. If it's a king's ransom I'd just as soon the Pens look elsewhere.

Hossa cost two firsts and a roster player. Two firsts and a roster player for Iginla makes sense if the Pens want to go for it this year. The fit is perfect.

The Pens have 16 million in salary right now and Iginla is a UFA meaning they have no problem now and they can worry about the future later.

Sort of a scary thought.

Agreed. I'm not fond of giving up that much for him. Would love to have him though.

Hossa was also 7 years younger, and I'm sure RS felt he would be able to resign him.
