per Andy Strickland, St. Louis getting close to signing Dmitrij Jaskin

Quote:
It won’t be long before he joins the long list of recent St. Louis draft picks to land in the NHL.

Sources say getting Jaskin signed to an NHL contract is slightly complicated.

Here’s why….

Even though Jaskin has spent this season with Moncton in the QMJHL, he remains under contract with Slavia Praha in the Czech League. His contract runs through the end of next season which means he can’t sign an NHL deal until he and Slavia Praha reach some type of agreement.

Sources say those talks are ongoing.
Quote:
Sources say a deal between the Blues and Jaskin is virtually done with the only hurdle being the Czech contract he signed as a teen. He’ll receive a strong deal with St. Louis that puts him at the top of his round.

Per Capgeek, today is the first day teams can sign players to ELCs that don't kick in until next year, so expect a bunch in the coming weeks.

And here we go!

Quote:
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced that the club has signed 2012 2nd-round draft pick, goaltender Anthony Stolarz, of the Ontario Hockey League's London Knights and forward Brandon Alderson of the OHL's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Stolarz, was selected 45th overall in this past summer's NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound goaltender is currently playing for the Knights after beginning the season with the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Quote:
Alderson is an undrafted right wing who is in his fourth season in the OHL, spending his two seasons with the Sarnia Sting, before coming to the Soo Greyhounds.

From what I've read about Alderson, he should be a bottom 6 player

Eric Stephens talking about Sarault on Twitter

Quote:
For those asking about Charlie Sarault, Ducks are not confirming they've signed him. At least not yet. Safe to say, he's in their sights.
Quote:
Sarault has 22-80-102 in 62 games for Sarnia Sting. Pass-first overager who currently leads OHL in scoring.
So, it's probably done, and not just formal.

Both are great grabs, for free, for the Ducks!
Kinda really jealous especially about Sarault, for obvious reasons.

Any word on Riley Brace (I know San Jose invited him to their dev camp, so they're probably gonna snag him, but I haven't heard anything since then)?

The Rangers have announced that they have signed forward Josh Nicholls.

Nicholls is a teammate of Rangers prospect Shane McColgan and is in his fifth season with the Saskatoon Blades.
Nothing official from the Rangers yet. Nicholls was originally a 2010 7th round #182 overall by Toronto Maple Leafs but was not signed by the Leafs last year. I'd say this would bode well for Shane McColgan to get an NHL deal with New York, too, as he's a junior teammate of Nicholls.

per Katie Carrera, Washington has signed Steven Oleksy to a contract and recalled him from the AHL. Oleksy, 27, has appeared in 54 games with Hershey of the AHL. He was never drafted.

caley, the OP, posted this in another thread, but unsure where this should go, due to the Gallant signing in here

I put Oleksy in the other thread because he, at 27, is no longer eligible for the Calder, whereas Gallant is still young enough (24) to qualify. That's my completely arbitrary cut-off point.

Not sure why it's taking that long for the Ducks to confirm the signings of Sarault and Gagné.

Interesting fact about Gagné; he could have played for the Hamilton Bulldogs this season but he turned down their offer and instead he decided to stay in the Q for his over-age season.

The Texas Stars will have a completly different look next season. A lot of players could potentially turn pro like Brett Ritchie, Troy Vance, Emil Molin, Johan Klingberg, Matej Stransky, Maxime Lagacé, Jyrki Jokipakka etc. It's a good thing because a lot of prospects like Roussel, Fraser, Vincour, Sceviour, Oleksiak, R.Smith and Jordie Benn are close to securing a permanent roster spot with the Dallas Stars.

Seems to make sense
Well sorta.
Better system than I probably would have came up with
