I try and stay away from the hyperbole of "must win" games, but we really need to win tomorrow. I don't know how the dressing room can move forward with the rest of the season if they can't get two points.
I'll be a sad, sad, panda if the Leafs and Sens make the playoffs while we miss yet again. We gotta make it man! I hate those guys so damn much.
It's just such a crime for our guys not to be able to see this city go insane in the post season. Justin Schultz crapped himself with how crazy the building got when Yak scored his famous goal against LA. He will **** two bricks when he sees just how crazy this building can actually get. I want Yak, and Ebs, RnH, Fisty, Browner, Jonesy, Smid, Hallsy and everyone else to experience Oilers playoff hockey. It's ******* magical, and it's a ****ing shame that it has been so rare in these parts for so long.
I believe we have passed the rubicon this season systemwise and we must now work with the Adjusted-hybrid Ralph likes. In for a dime in for a dollar, all complaints lodged to date have been left at the door and its time to only post positives till we run out of games. We have seen the ugly side already and now its time to let it go and just try to see it Ralphs way and support that way 100% even if it goes against our personal perspectives.
We need to take a step back to last season and we need to look at the tapes of the six game win streak and re-analyse why and how we won those games, what specific system adjustments in precise sequential order did we make consistantly to accumulate so many wins against so many different systems, that consistancy of winning results is what we want now so instead of re-inventing the wheel lets just go back and review our tactical database and compare notes to todays execution .
Watch the Oct 22nd to Nov 3rd games and look at the ways we were winning games as they were very consistant and were actually the optimum execution the Adjusted-hybrid can provide in terms of consistant winning results, the scores arent overwhelming but the game dynamics sure are, watch the possesion and momentum control we execute in some of them, see how the zone transitions are executed rinkwide, and then try to track where these positive changes stemmed from, it is not so hard to track the influences accuratety if you have data acess.
This is a very important thing for the Oilers to do right now because its to late for a total system change this season and the playoffs are still in range if we can string together 5 or 6 wins as we did last year using essentially this same exact system. We can salvage this season if we can quickly go back and accurately define how and why we won those games and then use that same catalyst or resource to adjust our system right now exactly as we did back then, I mean someone somewhere knows exactly what and why we did things step by step in those games against so many different systems with consistant winning results. Lets go back and find our Mojo.
The funny thing is as soon as we lose enough of these "must win" games, it's gonna switch to "must lose" mode for the draft lottery. By my calculations, we are 1-5-1 in games that were labelled "must-win" by the CHED crew. Doesn't exactly inspire a ton of confidence. I'll be interested to see if Brown can find a dance partner, Dorsette maybe? other than that, this game lacks a lot, including story lines.
