Roy has no NHL experience and he's a bit of a loose cannon but he's probably our only hope if we want someone from outside the organization. Otherwise we'll just get someone who is currently with the Avs/Monsters.

Agreed. This organization needs to stay away from simply bringing in players from the glory years as they've recently done in bringing Knowolchuk and Lefebvre into the coaching staff and Foote back.
Living in the past will not help this organization. Roy was a great goalie, but I don't want him as a coach. Rather than looking back to the glory years and trying to incorporate members of it into today's roster, we need to look to create some new glory years.
Roy would be okay here, but I really doubt he would be the best possible choice. I would say the one key thing about bringing Roy in over other in the family candidates is that Roy would not be afraid to fly in the face of management if he felt it helped his team.
Options are limited as Avs fans. Roy would be an insider, that's why he was considered for the HC gig before, but insiders are all that would be considered. Cooper, Ruff, et all would be great choices... even if they are not the best choices it sure would be nice to know our FO would actually sit down with the and consider them. That won't happen though. The choices are Roy, Sacco, David Quinn, Dead Chynoweth. The question isn't with this organization is Roy the best possible coach. It's if he's the best choice of the candidates Lacroix would consider.
I kinda doubt that ship is still docked anyway. It probably sailed when Roy turned down the gig last go around.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Lacroix hire Mark Moser or Peter McNab as the next head coach. After many years of loyal service to the in house network and proving their ability to toe the company line about time they get rewarded and given their shot to coach the team.

It would also be funny to see the look on the players faces as they are gathered around him as he is drawing up a critical end of game play only to watch him drift away into some story about something that happened to him once in the 70's.
We want a cheap coach and we have to stop hiring in-house.
Everyone on here knows it is gonna be Quinn if Sherman someday decides to pull his head out of his behind and realizes that Sacco needs to go.
My picks would be Cooper (lawyer dude who trains TBL AHL affiliate) or Eakins (Marlies). Both guys have shown that they are great coaches at the AHL level (unlike Sacco) and both probably would not cost all that much. If PL somehow has a stroke or Kroenke needs some tax deductions or something and we are willing to pay for a great coach, there certainly would be other (better) options. But I don't see that happening...

Moser's not that bad, he at least has the decency to sound disappointed when we've lost for the 20th game in a row.

I remember hearing a while back about how the players loved Joe Sacco. If you're a bad team then you don't want your players to love the coach. You want the players to dislike the coach and make them work and be afraid for their job. Sacco doesn't intimidate anyone.

Yea it's kind of a bad sign if you're continually a losing team, and the players love their coach. Kinda means he's not doing enough to motivate them.
Other than keeping Sacco for another year, the next worst thing would be firing him after the season and giving Quinn the job and a nice three year contract.
Fire this idiot now and see what Quinn can do for the rest of the season. When he fails badly, please get an experienced coach in the offseason.
