Report: Raiders interested in Geno Smith at 3

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on NFL 32 Wednesday that the Raiders have interest in West Virginia QB Geno Smith with the No. 3 overall pick in the draft.
"Word around the NFL is the Raiders have interest in Geno Smith with that third overall pick in the draft," said Mort. "Now I can't get this confirmed by the team, but Geno Smith is a guy that everybody sees as a top-10 pick right now -- not everybody -- but he's got a chance to go in the top ten. And if the Raiders do like him, you better take him at No. 3." Mortensen indicated that Oakland would likely release Carson Palmer if Smith were drafted.

Te'o had a poor showing at the combine and has fallen down the draft boards but Schefter says he won't make it out of the first round.

Its pretty obvious its a smokescreen. Why would they work on restructuring Palmer's contract if they were going to draft Smith?

I don't think it's that bad of an idea. With Lotulelei's heart problem and Moore apparently being a weak guy, there was hardly anyone left I even wanted with that pick. Having a top five pick this year is terrible.

I do like Sheldon Richardson though and think the Raiders will take him. The guy is a beast, never quits on plays.

I think the Raiders end up taking DT Shariff Floyd.

Is it just me, or did he come out of nowhere?

I really have the same feeling. A month ago there was basically no talk about him whatsoever.

It could be because he wasn't expected to enter the draft, though.

I heard of some low 1st round, early 2nd round grades for him during the season.

When I wrote earlier this week that, for NFL teams in Indianapolis, the elephant in the room when interviewing linebacker Manti Te’o's was his sexuality, some thought that I was speculating on his sexuality or doing anything other than passing along the information I was given: Teams want to know if Te’o is gay.

Right or wrong (i.e., wrong), they want to know.

Badly, apparently.

Albert Breer of NFL Network reports that two executives told Breer it’s the one question they’d ask Te’o, if they could.

Anyone think Te'o could end up like a former alumni and tumble down the draft boards like Jimmy Clausen?

Don't think he'll drop that far but top 5 pick in early in the season (and Heisman candidate) to possibly early 2nd round?

I didn't want to make a 2014 draft thread already, so

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports...-5-at-270-lbs/

Tom Rinaldi‘s job at ESPN is to make people cry. He did so again on Tuesday when he reported that South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, at 270 pounds, ran a 4.5 40-yard dash during winter workouts.

Next year is gonna be interesting, because you look at Clowney and see "can't miss" but depending who is at the top of the draft and who decides to declare, you could see QBs going before him and then whoever is sitting at #3 or 4 get the best pass rusher in a generation(potentially). Guy is a freak though.

Next years QB class looks disgusting, but I'd really consider Clowney over all of them. He's amazing.

As I said, really does depend who is at the top. He's a hard player to pass up. Who was the last DE to #1, Mario Williams? In an absolutely awful QB class. Will be interesting to see.

As much as the Eagles would still need a QB if they could have the option between QB and Clowney, I'd have to go Clowney

Problem is that none of these are ever official. Schools have been known report times faster than the scouts time them to generate buzz. That's why they send the scouts to time them.

I remember watching Clowney the 2nd game of his freshman year. He was ragdolling the Dawgs. He is truly a freak. But with that being said, if Teddy Bridgewater appears to be what everything thinks he is, I think I would take him over Clowney.

As a Jags fan, I would incite a riot if they took Clowney over Bridgewater.

And after today's Pro Day at Texas A & M, scouts believe it's hard to imagine the Chiefs bypassing OT Luke Joeckel with No. 1 overall pick.
