Most teams have their goaltending tandem established to start a season, though, so there is usually little risk of losing an unproven goalie on waivers to start the season.

Of course, we still have time to evaluate his potential readiness. Budaj seems to be reasonably popular and affordable, however, so it would take some rather exceptional circumstances for Tokarski to unseat him, probably.

No way. Think of this, if you were the GM this summer and let's say the Habs end up as one of the better teams in the NHL. So next season the pressure will be on to repeat, so would you hire someone to be the backup going into the season, that has almost zero NHL experience? Now if you were rebuilding then it would make sense but if you want to compete you need to have a solid plan in place.

That doesn't mean that Tokarski couldn't steal the job but I doubt management would go into the new season with a backup in place that has almost zero NHL games. If Price gets hurt for any length of time, you just put all your hopes on someone that has little experience.

Instead I would think the plan would be to have someone like Budaj on a short term deal, 1 or 2 years and then try to get Tok some games to see how he does.

All players have need to pass through waivers must do so, so you can't start in the AHL you have to be sent down. (unless on a AHL contract only) 2 way just means paycheck.

So what's the chances of us doing some serious damage in next year's playoffs?

Bournival, Holland, Quailer, Tinordi, Beaulieu, Ellis, Pateryn should all be significantly better. LL I'm sure will be better than ever hoping to erase the bad memory of this year. Plus the addition of Kristo should be huge.
Dietz and Thrower should do well. Pribyl and Archambault could surprise (or start in the ECHL).

I wonder if Schultz is still in the future plans. He's been producing. 11 pts in his last 13 games. An extra year couldn't hurt. The same goes with Geoffrion. I think the Habs will keep him if he's cleared to play.

Should be interesting.

Hard to guess so far out but one would think that if they have another very young defense plus same coaching staff the team could have more of the same problems.

I know it won't be his force, but nice to see Tinordi with some offensive production lately.

Does he have a better shot now ?

I hope he is as long as the kid takes his future seriously and train properly to start a new season next September. He is exactly what we need as a #13 forward in a very near future.

Schultz was involved in a 7 player trade today
http://www.utahgrizzlies.com/news/?article_id=2400

It's his 3rd ECHL team this season.

Ian is a RFA at the end of this season and I doubt he gets tendered an offer.

To think, he got called up to the NHL for a game, but didn't play. Now, with what Hamilton has he isn't being called up to play there. He's done with this organization.

Sad, indeed. Hagel and Stortini are not the end of the world. Schultz should had been part of that team IF he would had worked harder.

Conditioning was he downfall. Last season he started to be useful as a fighter and as a player. Was looking like he might be able to take a regular shift in the NHL one day.

Future looked good with him and Conboy. Now both are gone.

Habs aren't very good at drafting (or acquiring) players with size and who can actually fight.

I say we help the flyers draft a goalie and they help us draft a player with size who can play and fight.

Yes. It's his last year of his ELC.

So this is what? fight #2 for Quailer? Maybe he realized that adding this element to his game would help him find a place on the big club. Would be interested to know how he looked...

Not both. Conboy is gone, but Schultz is still Canadien's property.

So far I did a good move taking his photo for my avatar...

I am expecting him to backup Price next season.

Yup. His first one was the first game I believe and he wasn't really ready for it. Also, it was against Tristan Grant.

Last 10 games, Hamilton was 7-0-3.
I think we should expect much better next season.

Edit: You guys are right, it is 7-3-0 (actually, it is 8-3-0).

Can't be. Just a few games ago they lost 2-0 to Rochester I think.
