Grabner has worked hard defensively this season and, because of his speed, is an asset no matter how you look at it. He literally keeps D-men on their heels and is one of the most dangerous PK threats in the entire league.

Grabner is a weapon that not many teams have, no reason for us to trade him. He has been real solid this season.

Even though guys like Krug, Spooner, Knight, and Caron could make an awful lot of NHL teams, would they interest the Islanders? I am sure they would, but I am not sure they would at the cost of a roster player unless it is someone who will be an UFA.

Perhaps a 3-way would have to be worked out for the Bruins to be able to get Grabner and those are pretty rare, but maybe it could work. I don't know who with though

Why would Chiarelli down grade on defense when its our thinnest and also most important position?

I love Grabner but I see no opening for him here in Boston. No reason to give up assets for him.

Let's not do this pissing contest. Anyways, I wouldn't want to trade Grabner. He's great for us, easily our best goal scorer outside of Tavares and Moulson. I like having that weapon, rather than hoping to score by committee more than we do anyways. If push came to shove I'd want to do something around Boychuk for Grabner, but that sort of defeats the purpose of a Boston trade for Grabner.

Grabner is way to valuable to this team. The NYI dont really want to deal young players like Grabner and the return would be roster players and not draft picks. Maybe a 1st and Kholo would be too good to pass up though. Bad trading partners to me

I would imagine it would be around the same as Grabner, the two have had similar point totals...an Isles fan would have a far better grasp on what they are worth, can someone chime in?

Things are really down for Okposo given the way he's played this year. Grabner has significantly more value than Okposo because he's so disruptive on the PK.

Personally, I wouldn't trade Okposo until he rebounds from his very poor play so far this year.

Cheers,

Please explain WHY the isles sell low on 24 yr old Okposo, when he's having a bad season?

His prorated $2m salary too much?

Snow has recently said he's not making any panic moves, not trading his struggling youngsters.

Isles with 20 pts, are clustered with a bunch of other teams, trailing the 8th place team, who has 23 pts.

http://mobile.newsday.com/inf/infomo...ed:i=1.4682047
This is the team the Islanders general manager assembled, so he's not interested yet in giving up on any of his struggling younger players or dumping veterans for draft picks either.

"As I've said many times, if there's an opportunity to upgrade our roster and make the team better, we'll do it, but not at the expense of our young guys or prospects," Snow told Newsday here on Wednesday, a day off for the Islanders before Thursday night's game with the Canadiens. "We're not going to mortgage our future to make a quick fix. That's not our plan."

The Bruins wouldn't give up Lucic for anything short of a massive overpayment...I mean you're talking Tavares..that's how much the B's value Lucic and what he brings to this team.

Not too familiar with him, could you explain why you're down on him?

He's a passenger. His shot is erratic. He's not physical. He's a nothing in his own zone.

Anyone will pick up assists playing with JT and Moulson. Don't look at the numbers. He's not contributing in the way that, for example, PA Parentaeau did last year.

Cheers,

Dan-o

I can't see NYI wanting Peverley (especially at his salary) or Caron. We don't need bottom-6 centers (Nielsen, Cizikas) or underperforming LH shooting RW'ers (Bailey, Niederreiter). It's true that we need a 2nd-line center, but Peverley isn't that.

I also don't understand why the Bruins would want to trade Boychuk.

Cheers,

Dan-o

I value Peverly higher than Okposo. Peverly plays both wings, and center. He also plays PK & PP. He's fast, and extremely versatile. He puts up respectable numbers considering he's a fixture on the 3rd line (checking line).

That leaves, Boychuk + Caron + pick for Streit (UFA to-be)? No thank you. Boston gets hosed in this proposal.

Based on Snow comments from several days ago, I doubt he would value 31 yr old Peverley, over 24 yr old Okposo.

And with a glut of unproven prospects, Caron and the pick, hold no appeal.

Basically, Boychuk is the only piece valued and I don't want him badly enough to package Okposo+ Streit.

How about ?

Grabner and Streit
for
Ference and McQuaid and Caron and a pick

Ference finishes of Streit's duties for this year and you get younger guys to help a bit now and in the future .....

Wow that's ugly for the isles. Snow getting dinner and flowers first?
The isles are in talks to extend Streit's contract. He sounds confident of getting his 3 yr/$10m extension. No interest in flipping Streit for 27 games of Ference.
Grabner's scored 67 goals in the last 2+ seasons and makes a dirt cheap $2m.

With Carkner/ Brain Strait on the NYI roster and Mayfield/Pedan in the pipieline, not much interest in McQuaid.

With B. Nelson/Nino/Strome/Kabanov/Ullstrom not much interest in Caron.

If the isles were to package Streit+Grabner, they'd want a young NHL player, who'd be an upgrade on Streit in the top 4 or a young NHL player, who'd play on their 1st line next to Tavares.
