Here comes our offense:
Quote:
Butler can score. He has proven he can score at the NHL level. He can score like dynamite in the minors.
Quote:
Boychuk has scored really good in the minors. Can it translate to the NHL? Weve had good success with (acquiring) younger players and developing them. Well find out.

Obvioustly not in Trotz case. Our 2 top scores barely sniff the powerplay.

I get your point but when I think of scoring forward nobody on the Preds team comes to mind. Yes it is arguing semantics. Wilson and Borque are who your refering to im sure. Truthfully im not sure theres a coach in the league that would make a different decision on the PP with our roster.

Many are just drooling over Smith im not sure he will ever be able to finish like Borque. At this point Wilsom Borque and Butler line should be tried on the PP and 5 on 5. There nothing to lose.

Smith's stats this year aren't great but honestly he probably has the best shot out of any of our forwards. Also he has skill with the puck and speed. At this point you pretty much have to put him out there on the PP. Try to find ways to get him open around the slot and feed him the puck.

Other than Wilson Smith is our most skilled forward. Obviously his game hasn't clicked yet but we have to keep giving him opportunities because if he ever does find that confidence to his game he is going to be a very very good player.

who cares if this makes us 'look desperate'??

this is the easiest and fastest way to send a message that everyone will have to earn their slot in the lineup.

with Mcgrattan and Clune on the roster, the other 11 forwards didnt have much to worry about.

Now they do.

This isnt about Boychuk and Butler coming in and playing like first liners here. This is about getting guys out of their comfort zone and back to working hard.

If this dooesnt motivate the team then I think we start seeing trades

It should light a fire under people's butts, and it also means we can trade a few guys and still have some forwards on the roster. Plus they're young, so you never know.

the fact that comes to this is what is so sickening. people have been yelling about offense for years... if fans can see it coming, then well...

and no team has ever made a couple of waiver claims and all of sudden leapt from horrible to great.. best case, we squeak into a bottom spot and bounced in the first round... then what? same spot as every other year. i think that's what is so frustrating. i can take losing but don't want to see the same **** every year. its time for something different.. we had a good run with these guys.. ill be at the rink regardless.. just think its amusing we are sucking so bad offensively and we get some waiver claims and its gonna change things... and wake guys up. yeah okay.... these guys were on waivers for a reason. again, like putting shine on a turd imho

I like the boychuk pickup a lot to be honest. Think he could surprise lots of us. Don't really care about butler. But I think something has to happens trade wise or poile gets canned, it's been over five years since we have had a star forward, there have been tons of them traded around in that time period though. Poile is incapable of making it happen though.
If this is our only move for march, we are sellers at the deadline.

It's a positive pickup imo. The two have more upside and chance of being dangerous than Yip, Clune, and Big E.
Not going to cut it though. A top veteran foward needs to go. One of Legwand or SK would be my targets.

boychuk = Cal Oreilly

Both are unreal in the AHL but cant put it together in NHL. I hope Im wrong and Boychuk can produce, but if he couldnt score playing with Malkin and Neal, he isnt going to have it easier than that here.

I liked Boychuk on draft day, but he never filled out his frame like he was supposed to and doesn't have the offensive talent.

Not really a fair statement, we have no idea what moves Poile has tried to make or why they didn't work out. A lot of traded players have to waive NTCs to make the move happen (like Nash for instance)...what if Poile did everything he could and the player simply doesn't want to come here?

I'm sure DP would love to add a top 6 forward via trade or free agency. It's hard to say why it hasn't happened without knowing a heck of a lot more than we currently do.

Look at the stats, Cammalleri would be a good pick up I'm telling you guys!!! Put SK or someone in a package to CGY. Feaster makes bad moves all the time and Calgary will likely sell

No. I saw COR in the AHL. He was a very good player. He was never unreal. Ron Stern, Tony Hrkac and Gino Cavallini... they were unreal in Milwaukee. They scored goals when the team needed one. I saw Gino score a goal to win a game in the last minute with two guys hanging on him. Sounds like a Rocket Richard story. He was just voted as the #9 ranked Admiral in team history. He averaged over a point a game over three years and was the last Admiral to score 40 goals in a season, with 43,53,43.
