The thread is specifically about upside, I think it's a lot closer than some around here actually think.

I am quite confident that Kadri's absolute max upside is PPG or so around that ballpark. Whether or not he reaches it is another story and entirely up to him.

Personally, I had be quite happy if he can become consistent 60+ points threat.

I think Eberle is the better player right now, but I wouldn't trade him 1 for 1 for Kadri and I'd assume the Oilers wouldn't either.

Kadri is progressing well as a center, the last thing we need is a winger unless his name is Corey Perry.

Their upsides are definitely similar. I don't see how this is a bad poll?

Eberle broke out last year, Kadri broke out this year.

None are superstars...none will ever get a 100 points in a season.

Their absolute potential is PPG.

Eberle > Kadri right now, I don't debate that given the year he had last season, but to say they dont have similar upside is stupidity.

You have to understand that Kadri is the best player on the Leafs this season, he's a good reason why the Leafs are 5th instead of 9th along with our goaltending.

i love this thread

even though Eberle is the better player at this point in their careers

i would still take Kadri because he is one of ours

we witnessed the progression Kadri made since coming into the NHL

you will always love your children more than others

also i think Kadri has a higher ceiling

maybe its just me

I'm not understanding why Leafs fans keep bringing up upside as the reason it should be close? Kadri needs to prove he's able to equal the season Jordan Eberle had last season before you start to talk about similar upside. He's on a hot streak and there's a very good chance it will die down.

Eberle's upside is an above PPG player. In his 2nd season he was basically a PPG player. Eberle has struggled this season and he still has 16 points in 21 games, that says something about him. Plus, playing with Hall, Nugent-Hopkins, Yakupov and Schultz can only increase his point totals. Kadri simply does not have the same kind of supporting cast to ever be on Eberle's level.

If anything, Kadri's upside is what doesn't make this close and the fact he's having a better season than Eberle so far does.

I am really liking Kadri's game this season. If he keeps that up then its going to be pretty close. For now I go with the proven scorer in Eberle.

You guys need to calm down. I clearly said upside. I never said Kadri is better than Eberle right now. I know he hasn't proven that because he has not been given an entire NHL season. However, Kadri has not been given a proper shot before so it is not his fault he couldn't crack the line up. He was better than a lot of players on our team last year and they still sent him down.

Perhaps yes, I did post this a little early and should have waited at least until this season is over.

Eberle has out preformed Kadri at every level, you'd have to be ridiculously biased to not trade for him (1 for 1).

Eberle is in contention to crack Canada's Sochi squad, Kadri has just established himself as a regular NHL player. What an over reaction after 20 games

What an overreaction to a post. You could've just said Eberle, no need to flutter your leaf hate wings.

Makes a great discussion if everyone just posts one word, instead of actually discussing the topic.

Eberle now but Kadri future, especially based on Kadri's play this year.

I don't think Eberle will have many seasons equaling his goal count last year. I voted Kadri just because I feel this poll is unfair at this point. The upsides are definitely similar for these players, they both seem like very creative playmakers, but I don't think either will score 40 goals except for a career year. Kadri is definitely a better skater with more tenacity, and plays center, the comparison is so much closer than you think.

Sadly this isn't the only comparison. This may be the only specific thread but some (and key is some) Leafs fans compare him to everybody they can. 1 guy was saying he was on par with Hopkins as a prospect but has better size and speed. Statements like that are what get Kadri the bad rep he's getting.

Well there are a lot of leafs fans. And if we all (even if a 1/100) of us shared that biased opinion, this poll would definitely have gone a different way. Just think its unfair for Kadri has a huge fanbase in which 30 invidivduals think this way.

A week ago he had Colton Orr on his line. Colton Orr.

I completely agree. Edmonton has a large fanbase as well and a few who do the same type of thing. The minority of biased posters always create a bad impression.
