I'm saving this GDT. So good.

I'm hoping for a 4-2 win.
D. Sedin, Burrows, Schroeder, and Kassian with the goals.

Is Ballard seriously scratched again? After that gong show of a defense we iced against Calgary?

I'm sure a guy like Joe Thornton will enjoy seeing Barker on the ice if he gets the chance. AV is a genius!

Joe will have a good night I'm afraid.

I think if Ballard is out tonight there is a serious problem. I think AV and Gillis need to hold a press conference to clarify what is going on. If its just to give Barker and or Alberts some games before the playoffs , then say so.

If there is a problem with Ballard, indicate that.

I'm sure he's got an excuse ready.

He did say that. Paraphrasing here, but he said something along the lines of " I felt those guys give us the best chance to win"

I was hoping he was saying that to spare Alberts and Barkers feelings. Like they could also contribute. Not that Ballard sucked.

Nobody thinks Ballard 'sucks' . But he IS our #6 defense man so if the coach has to sit a guy to get his 7 and 8 into the line up, its going to be Ballard.

There are not going to sit Tanev or any of the top 4.

I don't know if Gillis agrees with this, has he said anything in the last couple days regarding Ballard?

Going with his refusal to trade him and AVs refusal to play him, I wonder if this is something they don't agree on.

No one sits their #6 when there's an injury just to get a couple of scrubs into the lineup. Alberts had already played the previous 3 games in a row so if they wanted to get Barker into a game they'd have simply sat Alberts.

Hamhuis with Garrison, Edler with Tanev, then you have Alberts/Barker/Ballard. Can they play as a trio?

Your point would stand if Bieksa wasn't out with an injury. Then maybe you sit Ballard a game to get Alberts OR Barker ice time...maybe. With Bieksa out it is bloody stupid to sit Ballard in favor of BOTH Alberts and Barker.

Carrying on the theme of stupid, that explanation is freaking dumb. Under what definition does a line-up with two plug defensemen in it give you the best chance to win. I only hope Ballard is indeed in tonight or else AV needs to get his head checked.

I have to wonder how Gillis can sit up on high watching these line-ups and not think: "What the **** is this man doing with the players I have given him."

AV's act is wearing thin. Every year he finds a few unique and unexpected ways to ice an inferior line up for no reason. I honestly think he's just arrogant and thinks he can play a few gut instinct hunches that will pan out (and rarely do). I just don't understand it.

Oh well.

Sedins - Burrows
Higgins - Raymond - Hansen
Booth - Schroeder - Kassian
Tostito - Lapierre - Weise

Hamhuis - Bieksa/alberts
Edler - Tanev
Garrison - Ballard

Schneider with the start I'm assuming. Also hope Higgins keeps the pointstreak going.
These are the line combos I'd like to see also...

Lets hope for a stellar game from Schneids and Lappy to find his long-forgotten form.

I disagree about slipping Barker into the lineup. It was two games in two nights , Bieksa was unable to go so instead of sticking ballard in he sllipped barker in. Ballard was only out for 2 days.

I think we need to consider that we have to get these guys in here before the trade deadline. I am onboard with what AV did.

However, I agree that his excuse is lame. Its flimsy at best. He insulted out intelligence like we cant figure out whats going on. I still think he and Gillis should address the media as to what is going on with Ballard.

If AV sits Ballard tonight, this is where I part company with his decision.

If this is the case, which I question, AV better call his local realtor....

Something is certainly amiss here, and simply saying icing a lineup with the best possible chance to win doesn't quite cut it.
We, the fans, understand the need for discretion within the locker room...but most aren't buyin' what their sellin'...
