Stl - nyr

With the trade rumors around Gaborik and the Blues' struggles to find a star winger, I wanted to see what some proposals would look like that might rectify both of those. Both teams need a shake up.. how could they make this happen?

To STL: Gaborik, Del Zotto
To NYR: Jackman, Stewart

STL gets a star winger who, granted, tends to be inconsistent, but they need a star. Del Zotto comes in as a young left defense, which the Blues lack.

NYR gets a defensive defenseman to stabilize the D core, and replaces Gaborik with Stewart, who's younger and perhaps has more long-term upside.

Thoughts?

We can't afford Gaborik's contract. We also need to add to Jackman not trade him away. The trade doesn't work for either team. Really going from Jackman to Del Zotto makes us worse defensively.

I'm very open to moving both Gaborik and Del Zotto as I believe they are both pieces with significant value that are expendable for the Rangers (I'd prefer moving Gaborik in the offseason though).

But this is unfortunately a terrible trade for the Rangers, not nearly the return I'd like for that package.

If the Blues make this deal, then they may as well join the Campbell's soup figure skating tour. They just lost almost all of their gritty players. NO NO NO

MDZ>Jackman
Gaborik>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Stewart

Did you put any thought into this or are you just trolling?

Wow! The value is way off on this. Rangers get screwed badly. Even if the values were even, the trade doesn't make sense for the Blues.

Yeah, despite the value being significantly in the Blues favour, it doesn't even address our needs.

How about something around Staal and Oshie?

Would prefer something around Staal and Stewart, but I wouldn't shoot it down immediately.

I have a tough time trading Oshie, even for Staal. Probably would be open to trading every other winger besides Tarasenko and Oshie.

If McDonagh was coming back, I would be more open to trading Oshie, but that would be really really hard.

(For the record, I get that McDonagh is a total no go)

Alright. Staal is better than McD right now. McD has higher potential, but the Rangers are gonna try to win it all this year or next year. Staal is probably a Top 5 shutdown D in the league. 55pt a year 2nd liners are not getting you those guys, sorry.
There's a lot of talk about McD and Staal being hyped bc of the Rangers system. Wrong. They are the Rangers' system. We can play the way we do bc of those players.

Also, I think we had that already, but I'm gonna say it again. We're not good trading partners.

I love Staal and he would be great next to Petro, but I dont think we can move Oshie right now. He's been our most consistent forward all year.

The Blues are in the market for a few things, but a star winger isn't one of them.

Gaborik doesn't fit the team's needs, doesn't fit the team's style of play, and certainly doesn't fit in financially.

Whatever source started this rumor is just flat wrong.

Neither Staal, nor McDonagh are available. They're both more valuable than forward support.

We are not very good trading partners. We can't afford to move what the Rangers would want, and the Rangers aren't moving what we would want.

Well, putting aside the fact that this is one of the worst proposals I've EVER seen on here, I have a simple question to ask...

How does Stewart have more long-term upside than Gaborik? Because I sure as hell don't see him scoring 40 goals at any point in his career, nevermind having 3 40-goal seasons and over 100 goals in a 3 year span.

However, I would trade Stewart for Staal.
The Rangers wouldn't.
