Doubt it.
Maybe he would have been insanely cheap last season, but he has already been playing a lot better this season.

Our coach is just a moron.

Ballard is still a very capable second pairing Dman. You can see it on the ice. Awesome skater. Good 1st pass.

It's a shame our ******* coach has done his best to ruin Ballards career.

yeah, he led us in blocked shots in '11, even with less PK time than aaron rome. last season, he blocked shots at a higher rate than anyone on the team other than rome, again with minimal PK time, less than alberts. the total last year is low because he was scratched for so many games.

ballard is our best shot blocker, and given that he's been at best the 5th PK option on D, his numbers are excellent.

i'm all for giving him a mercy trade. to any team but detroit, where he would be too awesome. i'm not saying ballard is objectively awesome, or even a legit top pair D in this league, but detroit would be so good for his skill set that i wouldn't want to face that team with him on it.

The AV hate is getting ridiculous. He's the most successful coach the team has ever had by a long shot. His resume speaks for itself.

As far as Ballard goes, he continues to make the same mistake over and over again. He seems to always follow his man no matter what the consequences. The Phoenix game he followed his man behind the net while another Phoenix forward just walked in front wide open to score. He doesn't fit with how the Canucks want to play defense, and he's had over 2 years to figure it out and hasn't, how is that AV's fault? Is AV supposed to change what has been a very successful defensive system to fit in Ballard when everyone else is doing well enough in it?

Leave it to Canucks fans to just complain during the most successful period the franchise has ever had.

I agree he's been playing much better this year, but lately he's been playing poorly in his own zone and making the same mistakes (ie not playing the system AV wants to play) so it makes sense AV scratched him. Also he almost only plays well when paired with Tanev, so if AV wants Tanev with someone else then Ballard usually becomes a liability.

He's been playing fine this year, but it still seems he wants to play his way instead of following AV's system. Considering that it's easy to understand why he's continually in the doghouse, he doesn't do what AV and Bowness (who handles the defense) are telling him.

Edit: I just can't believe people would side with Ballard (who the last 2 years the fans have hated and most wanted traded for nothing) over AV (Van's most successful coach ever).

our coach is a moron and has lowered his trade value to pretty much nothing. He is a 4.2 million dollar defenseman playing on the third pairing, he won't return anything of actual value

Over and over? All of our top 4 dmen have been making mistakes consistently. In the Flames game, Hamhuis stood at the side of the net, leaving a man wide open in front of the net to score (Garrison was covering his man). It's easy to nitpick particular plays.

And for the love of god man, tons of coaches could have had success with the Nucks roster as it was/has been.

Anyone could coach with the Sedins, Luongo and Schneider and be successful. AV does nothing during the game to give his team the advantage, unless you count abusing his gum.

Ballard has been one of the most consistent D-men along with Tanev. Garrison hasn't made too many glaring mistakes that I've noticed but Bieksa, Hamhuis and especially Edler have been brutal. Nevermind that Lapierre got caught with his pants down twice in a row just prior to Ballard getting scratched.
