I think we need to consider that we have to get these guys in here before the trade deadline. I am onboard with what AV did.

However, I agree that his excuse is lame. Its flimsy at best. He insulted out intelligence like we cant figure out whats going on. I still think he and Gillis should address the media as to what is going on with Ballard.

If AV sits Ballard tonight, this is where I part company with his decision.
Why? We've had Alberts on this team for years, you know what you get with the guy. If he's in the line-up in the playoffs you aren't going to do very well ... or at least we haven't any time he's been forced to play.

It took one game of Barker, and it is apparent the guy is not a NHL player outside the offensive zone. Terrible backward mobility and can't pivot to save his life. Just flounders on the defensive side of the puck.

So yes, Gillis needs to look at bringing in some adequate defensive depth at the deadline. I think we've established that ... never play Barker again, and use Alberts until Bieksa is healthy and then never play him again either.

.

Unless a trade is in the works, I totally agree. It's certainly seems intelligence-insulting..

Most fans find their helmuts on the ice - not left in their personal short yellow bus.

Nice to see Ballard back. Hope Barker is better than he was in Calgary - although I don't see how either could do much worse than Alberts has been.

Also, the Canuck Baby Boom continues!

Ugh ... I suspected Barker may slide in again, the guy is terrible defensively. I think Ballard will play with either Tanev or Garrison, and Edler will get the "babysit Barker" assignment again.

Good to see Ballard back in. Let's see if he'll play with an edge.

Not surprised to see Barker in the lineup instead of Alberts, need to give him reps because he can be a useful player when called upon

I thought so as well until this rolled into my feed, was a retweet from Ziemer

maybe he just means that they are both slotting in, but I think it means they are paired together

This is to get Barker a second game. Maybe he and Alberts will end up with 6 or 8 games eventually before the playoffs.

Glad to see Ballard back in the line up.

If either of those two are playing in the playoffs we're done anyway.

With AV, one or two mistakes and it's back to riding the pine again. But that's AV's style - at least with players he doesn't like.

agreed. We should start calling him Keith 'hat trick or else your benched' Ballard.

Sad part of it is, it doesn't matter how well he played before those so-called "three or four bad games"; in the eyes of AV - he's on the shortest leash possible.

Now AV as a coach will forget more than I will ever possibly know in this subject; but you have to wonder how this will inspire a player to play consistantly if they have to skate on eggshells....

And since he apparently is playing with Barker, I would be very surprised if he is mistake free tonight...

Sabotage by AV. Barker will cost the team about a half dozen glorious scoring opportunities, maybe a few goals, and AV will get to blame Ballard for it. What a sneaky son of a gun!
