Remember, Redden coughed one up resulting in one goal and Elliott let one softy. Changed the entire complexity of the game.

Uh, The Kings caught on fire in February last year just to get the 8th seed in the west last year. Have the Blues caught on fire yet? Yeah right...

Halak needs to play 90% of the games.. I don't see Elliott getting back on track, he's a one-hit wonder.

They'll make it.

Too much talent on this team to keep playing like this. They should find their groove soon. And once that happens they will be one of the favourites again.

Sorry if the facts are negative as I was trying to put the Blues current situation in a realistic light. If trends hold the Blues will need the equivalent of 16 wins in 27 games, certainly attainable but they need to turn it around fast. A bad road trip now could put the Blues in a situation where they need 30 out of the remaining 46 points. Which is a significant feat for a healthy team playing consistently good hockey. Unfortunately right now that does not describe the Blues.

I worry we'll head into the playoffs, or shortly after, that Halak will be injured. I don't think we can go far without him, and if we lose him we won't go far after.

They also made some pretty big roster moves. The last couple months of the season they were the top scoring team in the league. It is always possible for the Blues to get hot at the right time, but at the end of last year the Kings were more dominant than the Hawks are right now.

I think they will make it but I do not expect them to do anything once they get there unless something drastic happens in the next month.

The point is flying right over your head. Thanks for keeping it real, though.

Good organizations also lose sometimes. They're 5th in the conference. I'd say they're doing just fine 'overcoming' them.

I agree and I also can't stand this "but the Kings did it, why couldn't we?" Stuff.

It was a Cinderella-story and won't happen again for a long time

Plus last year's Kings were way stronger mentally than this or last year's Blues

I still stay positive and think we get in but I don't dare to predict the seed we end up, I just predict it will be ****ing close

It's not just about the Kings. They're the most recent example along with New Jersey (6th seed). All teams from all different seeds make runs in the playoffs. Trying to predict who will and won't when only half the season is over is ludicrous. Sure, your prediction will probably be right because the odds are in your favor. Only 4 teams make it to the 3rd round. That doesn't make you a 'realist', just a smart whiner.

Now 7th in the conference and 5th through 10th are all tied at 24 points. Love how I keep reading the fact that the Blues are currently in a playoff position, though true, that can literally change over night. The Blues could start a win streak, but I really don't see things turning around until they start playing better defense. 21 games into the season and we are still getting sub par performances from Backes, Russell, Petro, McDonald, and I'll even throw in Elliot. Redden is not the answer and Cole keeps riding the pine. The team still blows assignments and gap control way to frequently, and lack chemistry though we are almost half way through the season. I need to see steady improvement in play and consistency before I call the Blues a playoff team this year.

I agree, and the Blues do need to play better or they'll find themselves out of the playoffs in a hurry. The point is that everyone is over reacting based on expectations not being met. Fact is they're still in the thick of it, just not exactly where we thought they'd be. One season has us spoiled.

I guess it was the 25 seasons making the playoffs that really spoiled me

Anyone here read Bill McClellan? Judging from the negativity, I feel like it's a fair number of you....

Blues will be fine. I'm putting them at the 5th seed for now.

The Blues look like a 6 seed right now, and I will stick with that.

Picked 6th based on the season thus far, but they could easily end up 4th.

I dont know why, but I get the feeling that all the adversity this season might result in a deep run in the playoffs. I have to admit that this optimism is formed from the Kings last year and witnessing the Cardinals success after fighting to make the playoffs in their 06, 11, 12 seasons. The Blues are not any thing close to the Cardinals, though.

The Blues are definitely not peaking early, maybe they are playing possum this year...

Agreed with 5th/6th area. I ended up voting 6th. I could see them ending up in that range. Interesting to see who we end up against, trying not to predict that one. Not sure who I prefer at this point.

Ha, after tonight gongshow I'm praying to get in at the 8th seed. What a heartless team, you want to beat this team? Just score one goal and watch them self implode.

I would rather have a better chance at #1 overall than making it 8th seed and knocked out the first round.

We won't fall far enough for a chance at number one and the Blues need playoff revenue. It's sad, this team should be right behind Chicago with home ice in the 1 st rd not hoping to make it.

In a full season, yes. This season, I don't know; we may not have enough time for everything to normalize.
