Kings interested in Briere

Apparently the award was too rich for Buffalo's blood.

And there might be a sign and trade.

With all these teams tapping themselves out before their arbitration hearings and their QO re-signings, it is definitely a buyers market for those teams with ample cap space available.

I'm not going to bother with another thread for this, but Eklund's also "reporting" that the Kings are in the Klee and D. Markov sweepstakes.

isnt' that a bit expensive for him? And do we really have the cap room to take in a long term contract as expensive as that?? With the kids being offered long term contracts, it would seem we are beginning to close in on the cap. Shouldn't we have maneuverability in case we decide to add on salary towards the end of the year?

Unless we're dumping salary on the way back, I really dont' get how we benefit by taking in a potentially $5 mil x 5 year player. And I odn't think we can get Briere unless we send back some of the kids in long term lockups.

FYI, Buffalo still has a lot of arbitration cases to fit in.

Briere does seem a bit expensive, but I'd have a hard time being upset if DL were to pick him up. He might be pricey, but he's the prototypical "New NHL" player.

Briere would make Cammalleri obsolete imo. I bet Buffalo is cursing Chicago, Minnesota and Calgary.

I'd love to have Briere...I also concede that it might take a few youngsters to pry him away from Buffalo....I bet Tambs and Grebs could have been a good package....D'oh!

Maybe Buffalo would have interest in a homegrown D-man?

Remember when we used to propose those Miller to Buffalo trades and actually hope to get something back in value with a straight face?

I would love to see us get a guy like this. He can flat out play and is VERY good on the powerplay.

If it's a Miller or Sopel + a #1 for Briere, then maybe we can sign Ken Klee to a 1 year 1 million deal. It would be an upgrade.

Is Briere so much better than Cammalleri that the Kings would be willing to add 5 million bucks to the salary cap? I wouldn't do it.

I would love to have Briere he is a great playmaker and a great leader even though 5 M might be a little too much I would still take him.

I know nobody belives me when I say radio stuff but....On the radio they were saying that the Sabres are looking for 2 to 3 non NHL players. Prospects. I hope we dont give up Hersley , McGinnis , or Harrold. With that being said I know we wont give up Kopitar or O`Sullivan haha.

Miller has played in more than 60-games in a season three times in the past 10-seasons. He missed the end of last season with a back injury. He'll be 35 in August. I'm more interested to see if he announces his retirement than if Buffalo would be interested in him...

I don't know that the Kings and Sabres are good trading partners

I'm not saying he'd be the only piece, but I think he could take the edge off the prospect hit.

I know everyone here thinks that the only way to get rid of Miller is to leave him at the end of DL's driveway on the designated day; however, I'm not beyond believing that a defensvie D-man, even one with Miller's history, is totally worthless...especially since there've been rumblings in the past of Buffalo's interest in him (though, granted, all they have been is rumblings).

Pushkarev - He's burried behind Cammalleri, O'sullivan, Frolov, Brown and probably Tukonen at this point. I'll be very surprised if he's in the system much longer...
Hogeboom - Much the same as Pushkarev, burried...
Boyle - Might just as well...

Kanko - They'd probably have to include a guy that's on the bubble and he's it at this point...

Probably not even getting a call back with this list, but hey, it's not like the Kings have CAP room to do the deal anyway...

If we traded Boyle and Pushkarev for Briere I'd be pissed. The guy is not worth 5 million or close to it. His best season is 65 pts. Look on the Buffalo forum just about everyone wants to see him moved now. Giving up Pushkarev ok but giving up Boyle who can I think is the most versatile prospect we have I find to be pure idiocracy. Do not forget they are going to have to move him to create CAP space its not like the are simply moving him

I wasn't suggesting that he was worthless, just pointing out that he's had some history with injuries...

The Kings prospect pool probably isn't really all that interesting to other teams once you get past Kopitar, Tukonen, O'Sullivan, Lewis, Bernier and maybe Petiot...

I dont think they will part with Pushkarev or Boyle. But I do however feel that they are willing to part with Tukonen , Kanko , Hogeboom and sorry to say but Lukacevic

The Kings don't need anymore 60 point guys under 6 feet tall. Briere and Conroy are both #2 centers being mis-used as #1 centers. Pass.

Can't see Miller retiring and leaving $2.28 million on the table. I certainly wouldn't. Maybe if he's bought out first, though (and that's not something I would see the Kings doing).

BTW, Miller has had three 60+ game seasons (1998-99, 2000-01, 2001-02).
