Send a message via ICQ to furax
RDS has updated the page... they say 2.2M$

That mean we are at 41.3M$ ... so we got about 2.7M$ left.... our cap situation looks good.

2.2 mil is a steal considering the arbitration awards and the UFA contracts that have been given out thus far, IMO.

I think this shows a lot of class and commitment to the Habs by Ryder, knowing he could of gotten more than likely a buttload more via arbitration.

Hats off to Bob and Mike!

2.2 is very good considering that Briere got 5.I was expecting 3 mil at the minimum for Ryder.

There is a small problem though and it's the length.2 years would been preferable at that price but i can live with 1 year.

I think Gainey signed now because it looked like he was going to lose in arbitration, I also think this one year deal is a stepping stone to have Ryder in camp and to have the team in place before the camp opens...I believe Ryder will sign an extension during the season, especially if he is having a good one. His agent is the same agent for Cheechoo and he signed a multi-year deal during the season and I believe he is open to negotiating during the season unlike some other agents and players.

If Gainey was going to lose in arbitration, why would Ryder agree, and sign for 2.2 when he could have gotten more?

Excellent signing.

For all the criticism thrown at Gainey for his overpayments (by myself included) I'd say these last 2 signings of Samsonov and Ryder have been very fair.

I have no doubt that with the way arbitration is going Ryder could've gotten near 3 million. Maybe the Briere news hasn't reached him yet?
