Rynnas wouldn't be a bad third stringer for when Ward come back and backup for right now.

Big goaltender that is pretty inconsistent now but does have some potential.

Likely could be had for a late pick or meh prospect.

Someone from the Marlies?

They signed Drew MacIntyre recently and already have Owuya and Rynnas. With the big club having Reimer and Scrivens - could there be a move there?

Seeing as most Flyers fans never want to see Leighton play on the team again, I think he'd be available for free. I'd be happy if the Flyers moved him and then pursued a better option for NHL back up and sent Boucher back to the AHL.

One of them could be either loaned or traded.

Can an organization still loan players from one AHL affiliate to another AHL team?

Mike Murphy will most likely never play for the Hurricanes / Affiliates ever again. I won't name names, but trust me on that part.

Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers - I would take him.

San Jose has depth in goal, our back-up Greiss is solid (except for his last game) and will be UFA. He deserves a chance to showcase his skills, and he won't get that behind Niemi. He's not quite starter material yet, but we have been happy with him as a back-up.

Greiss as a rental would have some value, but probably not enough for Canes to fill San Jose's need (a defensively responsible youngish Tweener that can contribute 30+ points in a full season, who might develop into a second liner). Would be willing to do Greiss++ for the right NHL level Forward.

No kidding, I was just thinking about Greiss and whether he was available or not. Jeremy Welsh, perhaps? Currently at a 4th line level, potential 3rd line center next year. I think giving an Ellis/Greiss tandem a try this regular season may work for us. Also would would give us two options for backup next year.

How about a trade like this?

To Canes:

D Douglas Murray (UFA)
G Thomas Greiss (UFA)

To Sharks:

RW Chad LaRose (UFA)
C Jeremy Welsh (Prospect)

Wait a few days. When Kipper comes back, one of Taylor/MacDonald will be on waivers.

Now Ellis is out for 7 to 10 days.

Carolina will have to either call up John Muse or make a trade.

If they call up Muse, all they have left down in Charlotte is Rob Madore who has played a grand total of 41 mins in the AHL...

Robert Mayer for a 7th.

He's going back to Switzerland next year, so you don't have to worry about dealing with him.

Leland Irving, Brian Elliot, Thomas Greiss? I mean, if you're REALLY desperate we can give you DiPietro

Just sign Iles (or another NCAA UFA goalie) and bring Mike Murphy back til the end of the season.

Exactly, biggest thing that makes me think he's the primary target for a UFA signing.

Would still prefer to have a backup for Peters that's better then Muse or Murphy, but Ellis should only be out short term.

I'd do it. Sharks have 7 NHL d-men without Murray, and several others who are gonna start competing for spots. Their goaltending is equally as deep, with Stalock ready to be a NHL backup, Sateri as starter in Worcester, and Heemskerk/Anderson competing for AHL backup. LaRose would help deepen the forward group and Welsh could help bolster the cupboard.

Greiss would make a lot of sense. He's a good goalie who has never really had the chance to shine with the way the Sharks ride their starters. Canes have plenty of wingers we might want.

No point in going after anything but AHL depth
