It would certainly seem that way, but again, we don't really know what Jarmo is thinking yet. Which also means "new guy gonna trade everyone" is also bunk.

Foligno has been one of CBJ's better forwards as of late. I do believe he is playing better this year, than he was last year with Senators.

Its going to be hard to get CBJ to move him at this point. Likely better off trying to get Dubinsky.

I would like both Foligno's on the same team, what would the Jackets offer for Marcus?

He's been one of our best forwards. We are keeping him as part of the rebuild. You may inquire after we are a playoff team, but not before.

How long is Foligno's contract btw?
2 more years after this season at just under 3.1 mil, then UFA.

I'd love getting both Folignos to Buffalo, but Dubinsky would interest me too... What would you want for him from the Sabres?

I do really hope Buffalo pushes hard to contend again for the playoffs. Getting Marcus over here would be our exact need..

The pieces the Jackets are missing: a top line, a top goaltender.

That's pretty much it. I'd look for a summer deal Foligno + for Schneider.

Foligno is a tough player for HFer's to value. He doesn't need to score to help the team. You can't just go by stats with him. But that's exactly why EDM desperately needs a guy like him.

Buffalo isn't trading our Foligno.

No, no, and no. The very qualities that EDM seems desperate for in (Nick) Foligno are exactly why we badly want to keep him.

Vancouver
Derek Brassard
Nick Foligno

Columbus
David Booth
1st 2013
2nd 2014

Columbus gets 4 picks in the 1st round (as well as the 31st overall..so basically 5 1st rounders)
Also get a top-6 shooter to offset the loss of offense.

Really? I thought you guys would want some top line talent. Not trying to sway you, because I'd keep Foligno if we had him too, but just going by what it looks like your needs are, I'd be expecting your GM to be looking for some offense first guys if Foligno was on the block.

No. As stated in the thread where this proposal was actually assembled, Brass-for-Booth is fine, but Foligno for picks would never be accepted.

The thing is, Foligno isn't on the block. That kind of changes things.

I actually think this deal is well structured to give both teams what they need, although VAN needs to add. Columbus needs to add top line talent, Vancouver needs secondary scoring (because Booth is a failure), voila both teams get what they need. (On another note, David Booth might not be a top 6 shooter anymore, maybe just a salary dump/ reclamation project).

The reason the values are off is that Columbus is only getting a low chance at what they need. You need to add, at a minimum, another first rounder or maybe Jensen to bring this close to even. First round draft picks will be dealt at the deadline for players who aren't nearly as good as Foligno.

If Vancouver is so eager to get a top-6 forward from Columbus for what is likely a pick in the 25-30 range, I would see if Prospal is up to spending post-deadline and the playoffs at Ryan Johansen's house and playing for a potential cup team before returning to Columbus in the summer.
