13 because I'm apparently the worst at cheering teams on to victory or 57 because of my last name. And you have no idea how difficult it is to have "Steaksauce" for a last name.

30

Always my go-to goalie number, and now that I can't play goalie anymore I decided I'd use 30 as a player whenever possible now.

#54. I was given both #5 and #4 when I was a kid so I just put them together.

My first ever number that stuck for me was #10. I wore it every year I played AAA. Primarily because when I made my first team at 8, Pavel Bure was the guy.

However, had I had the option to go higher than #22, I would have wore #28, the number my uncle wore when he won 3 cups with the Oilers. The number I wear now in men's league is 77 in homage of my favourite player of all time, Paul Coffey.

8, 16 or 88 in that order.

I originally wore 16 because of Linden but it was almost never available so I'd settle for 8 (half of 16) or double-8. Years have 8 have made me accustomed to it.

63. Dads birth year. Also looks cool. Only decent players to use it were Ribeiro and Marchand.

Also 94. First number as a little baby kid skating around so cute and what not.

I'm 9, have been since I was a kid, it was my uncle's number. He wanted 99 for Gretzky but it was taken. And of course, Gretzky wanted 9 for Howe but it was taken. And Howe took 9 because it gave him a better spot on the train

I've used 67 (looked cool), 16 and 18 (Brett Hull), and 13 (Mike Cammalleri) before. I wouldn't mind 10 either.

Is it a rule for skaters not wear #1? I am shocked that you dont see many if it was not, I dk 1 skater in a pro or semi pro game to do so. Skaters are not goalies.

Also, I am not exactly sure what number I would pick if I ever went pro. It wouldnt be a difficult decision but I would have to think about it. Like a tatoo, I would want it to be a brand. One that not only means something to me, but when people see me with it they recognize me and what I bring to the table. When I was a freshman on my varsity team in high school they asked me what # I would want. Funny that every # I chose originally they could not give me. They finally gave me 16, had no issues but then a week later a senior had wanted his number changed to 16 and so I gladly accepted the switch to #19. It stuck with me. Like I was born to wear it lol. Did not realize so many good and greats have worn it. Yzerman, Sakic, Toews, Richards just to name a few off the top of my head.

It was also not until after college did I realize 19 really meant nothing to me, plus have not really got the chance to represent it since graduating and many players wear it. tried to think of a number that suits me as good as 19 but more meaningful to me and have not. Also a uniquness.

Recently was given #11 in an adult league team and quite honestly seems like next best choice. For some reason wearing the # makes me remember Messier, and his style of play. A work horse and a leader. And for that I try to model myself after it.

So I guess I would leave it to a bit of luck and chance with the hope that either of these numbers are there.

It's sort of an unwritten rule, and #1 also looks extremely stupid on a skater. I've seen it couple times, and it just simply looks wrong.

My numbers (in order of preference):

#10 - Looks good, has been worn by many great players. Also have worn it in soccer, where it usually belongs to a playmaker/attacking midfielder.

#19 - Again, a number that many legends have had. Most recently Yzerman, Sakic and upcoming legend Jonathan Toews, one of my favorite current players.

#16 - 19 with the last number turned around. I know 91 might make more sense, but I like to have a number from the range of 10-29 and 70-89.

#24 - Was assigned to me in my current club, could be worse. Kinda reminds me of the TV series and Jack Bauer.

I wear 89 in my roller league. Also wore it when I played semi-pro football, I was a wide receiver. But I don't do football anymore...too many concussions. The hockey league I play in is minimal contact

Was always #8 in baseball and loved Gary Carter. In hockey, I always liked the look of double numbers (11,22,33...) so 88.

19 (for Trottier, who Yzerman loved) and 17 (Kharlamov notably) for players that I admired as backup #s.

When I was real young i wore 12 in baseball, then held on to that cause Alomar came around and he was my favourite player. Once I started in Hockey i kept that number until one year it was probably taken so i switched to 19 for Yzerman and never looked back. Wore 92 for the Blue Jays first world series win whenever 19 was taken.

I wore what was available. Nearly a different number every year. Never seemed to affect my play or my peace of mind.

In HS I snagged the 17 and rocked it for 4 years. Did some of you find you played better with a particular number?

I guess I just never put too much thought into something that everyone else sees, except you, lol.

#25 as that was the number I wore in my baseball/basketball leagues growing up. Or I might look to #77 if I play league again as that was Adam Oates' number and I try to model my game on his (pass first, set up better players, ring up lots of assists). It was also Coffey's number, and that guy was incredible.

Baseball it was #7
Football it was #87
and Hockey it'd be #74....

#7 has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. But when my first son was bon on April 4th...the #4 became popular in my household. So I'd be different and be 74.

Depends on the position, since i've made the transition from goalie to out;

Offence
13 - Sundin (obv), selanne, Datsyuk
28 - love the number and am a fan of Semin, Domi, Giroux

Defence
4 - fav number, and Bobby orr.

Goalie
31 - Cujo
