We need a big strong defensive nasty D man...Markov... God love him.. Is wearing down
They are overplaying Markov. 27 minutes is too muchand Kaberle only got 11:42 that's too little kaberle was a -2 but neither was his fault, 1st was a lucky boun ce right to Grabner and the 2nd Price whiffed on a point shot.
Just a bad game all around, especially with d zone coverage and Price's lackluster play. Hope it is a one-off and they can get back to their winning ways shortly. BTW, the Isles are indeed our kryptonite.
I'm not blaming the refs for the loss but I'd be interested in some stats when Tim Peel refs a Habs game.. Stats like wins vs losses, PP's, PK's.. It seems like they lose way more games than what they win when this guy refs Habs games.
Oh and the Islanders looked good tonight, they also did in their last game against the Habs. They're not a bad team (from what I've seen at least). Stats don't tell the whole story, if there's one fanbase that should know that it's ours...
They aren't a playoff team in the Atlantic but they'd probably win the Southeast. They have great special teams, and this was without Visnovsky, their best PMD. When Nabakov has the energy they go on runs, we weren't the first good team they beat and won't be the last.
That one was all on Price. 5 goals on 20 shots is embarrassing after the team managed to come back and tie it.
You obviously know very little about hockey, thats not about shots, thats about scoring chances where we have been quite dominated.. The team played aweful in front of Price all night long.. 1 questionable goal was the last one but it seems to have deflected on Bouillon' stick..
Groulx and Price solve whatever makes him play like S. Mason, Therrien whips the D into shape and we`re golden. I hope that at the end of the year we`ll laugh about our anxiousness. Meanwhile bag skate and play Budaj.
The effort was there but what did he do in terms of scoring chances? He had the one on the PP where DD won the Faceoff and he sneaked behind the defense and had the whole net opened but he lost the puck. Galchenyuk and Pacioretty were wasting possession in the last stretch of the game by taking dumb shots where they had no angles.
Blaming Price is the easiest way to go, and if you want to blame him go ahead.
But, while he play has been less than stellar since he came back from the flu, the overall defensive effort by the team the last few games has been atrocious. Even Budaj who supposedly played an amazing game vs the Bruins, let in 3 goals. You can't always expect to win games 5-4 and 4-3.
How many times have we seen an opposing player completely left alone in the slot? It's ridiculous. Defensemen are being beat by the backdoor play on a consistent basis. Forwards aren't covering the opening shot at the top. It's like we've completely lost any sense of a defensive structure.
I would worry about Price but I know it's just a matter of time before he gets his game back. We just can't expect to make a deep playoff run playing that type of D. It's not going to work vs. teams like the Penguins, Bruins, Leafs.
On a brighter note, I think we just got a glimpse of the great defensemen PK will become for us in the future. Absolutely stellar.
MB only job right now is to bolster this atrocious defense. I'm going to say what I said 2 years ago, and then the year after that. Markov is done. Time to move on.
Yes he was a fantastic player, but Kaberle is quicker on his feet ffs.
Disappointing, but I'm not too upset about this one. It was a predictable let-down after two very emotional games and they weren't that bad. Hopefully this is just a reminder that they're not unbeatable and they get right back at it on Thursday.
I am a little concerned about Price though. No reason to panic by any means, but he hasn't looked good at all lately.
