Either way past vanek and pominville our wingera are trash. I'm not a fan of leino but on this roster he would clearly help

That 2nd Hodgson goal was unreal. What a set of hands.

They were still making a run until the last game or two, so it did matter.

I honestly don't know.

A guy can be a star on one team, come here, and be flat. I don't know what to expect from VL.

Wait.

Aren't you the one who wants no part of Patrick Kane on THIS Sabre team for fear of the locker room? ...

What the hell is the difference? Besides Kane being 100x's better than Semin.

Canucks were not fleeced. Agree to disagree.

If you remember this conversation, hit me up in 3 years. I think in 3 years there will be enough proof with developing and experience, both players will be equally important to what they bring to each team. Right now it's just knee jerk reaction.

It mattered for the Sabres...I was thinking it didn't matter so much for the last couple opponents. Pens were def in, while the Isles and Jets were def out. Those were the last few teams they played.

During the playoffs two years ago, he played on a line with Hartnell and Briere. We all know how clutch Danny has been in the playoffs, so that would explain the 21 points in 19 games for Ville. Like everyone else, I think his 4.5 mil a year cap hit is terrible. But I still have faith in him to score 15 or 20 goals and be a major player in our puck possesion game. He isn't that bad defensively, either. We need a guy who can play the type of game Jochen Hecht used to play for us.

One bad year and some want his head on a platter. Let him adjust. We've also got a new coach that the team seems to want to play a little harder for.

Kane has a history of immature behavior
Semin is Russian

that's the difference

but, thanks to your "100x better" comment, at least I know not to take you seriously anymore

Semin's ex-Cap teammates have repeatedly dogged the guy's work ethic in the press.

My opinion on both are this. If you have poor core leadership neither player would be good on your team. If you have strong core leadership both players would be good.

The Sabres core leadership is ....

Blah Blah Blah.... sure...be dismissive over an exaggeration comment.

Semin has a history of being lazy..unmotivated, immature player.

Kane has a history of being an immature citizen.

Worlds of difference...Fact is you have no idea how he is in the locker room..all you are doing is seeing Derek Roy 2.0 and stereotyping.

The guy needed a major change of scenery. Now his work ethic is unquestioned in Carolina. I think he just became stale in Washington, much like Stafford is in Buffalo.

Yep, I agree with this 100%, he's a great player...he's not a fit here.

I agree Semin isn't a fit here....

But I believe Kane is a wonderful fit here. Not thru trade tho. Would cost too much. Kane doesn't need wonderful team leaders..the guy has great work ethic...one of the hardest workers on the Hawks.

Because he is surrounded by a strong core leadership. If kane was surrounded by Stafford, Vanek, Pominville, and Myers, he would absolutely not be the same guy. Unless you think the Sabres leadership are just as strong as the Hawks.

I think it's different here.

Cody Hodgson development has been nothing but good minus his injury fiasco, just goes to show why you need to be patient with a players, no different for Kadri in Toronto.

No. I don't think the Sabres core leadership is as strong as the Hawks.

I just don't know why you think he needs strong leadership in order to be successful. The kid doesn't float...he works hard and is extremly talented...I don't care what he does off the ice...he could be the biggest ***** ever...as long as you work hard and produce. Not to mention the obvious that maturity comes with age.

Trade Stafford for whatever his market value is right now. No idea what that is, but I'd shop him and take the best offer.

He's never going to be a consistent scoring winger and is just taking up space. I can't wait to be rid of him. He's as big a part of what's wrong with this team as anyone. He has been for years.

Awards:
Good -

- The third period was better, but they still gave up two goals.
- Hodgson's solo effort.
- Hey, the managed to finally score on a PP point shot.

Bad -

- The first two periods looked like a complacent team. Lot of average effort out there.

Ugly -

- Eh. My apathy at their play? That they're still 1 point out of dead last in the conference does upset me any longer -- it's draft position at this point.
