So Sabetti's big tweet was about something we all knew would happen at one point or another... Crépeau joins the team! 5 Canadians (all Québécois) with the team now.

In 2 years we could have Ouimette, Tissot and Crepeau plus who knows, maybe Hainault, Piette and Occean as starters too. Once the public feels an attachment towards the club, sky's the limit for IMFC.

I'd love Piette to replace Bernier

A succesful club with a lot of succesful local talent and a few international stars would be VERY VERY VERY VERY popular. If our young québécois develop and do well, the team will become a media darling quickly.

Yup, but the potential is there and the club is showing a will to build the team that way. Could work or could fail, but so far so good.

Piette will not return to NA for a long time. Or at least he shouldn't.

Hes still in his Bundesliga's club' Academy. Not every single academy player makes it do the senior squad. It really depends on that. If he is a fringe player in the Bundesliga (In a couple of years from now) , or if his club get relegated to the 2.Bundesliga, he could get tempted by a DP/High salary contract offer by the Impact.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPEAIYs9YAs

I really hope with the Impact's newly structured academy, after Saputo & Eullafroy's visit to Lyon's academy last year, we won't let other kids like Piette get scouted by other clubs before us.

That's like talented Czech players playing in the Extraliga instead of the NHL. It's rare. If you're talented enough for better competition, you will play there instead of home. Players always want to play/stay in Europe especially when they're young to make a name for themselves.

He can easily make a low end team like Metz in a year or so.

Possibly. If you look at the stand out MLS players, they often get courted by EPL Clubs (Or atleast thats what the rumors say).

If I could step in Piette's shoes, I would stay in the Bundesliga/2.Bundesliga if I get solid minutes and a solid salary. But if I don't play much, I'd much rather go to the MLS, get some solid $$, play for my hometown team, and IF another team comes running after me, Then we'll see. If not, whats wrong with coming back home? Example: If Piette gets an offer from Borrusia Munchengladbach (Europa League/Top half of the table team) in Germany as a Bench/Starting player, I'd definatly flip off the MLS and not even think about it. But If I stayed at Dusseldorf (His current club), who are fightnig to relegation every single season, and not even being a starter, I would consider coming to the MLS. Thats what I mean

Only time will tell. I haven't watched him enough to say whether he is a special player or not, but according to reports, seems like he has something
special.

For those who haven't saw this game BTW; Amazing game Portland vs NYRB. Great quality of play. The sound of the Timbers Army when Portland scores is goosebump worthy.

Nothing really. Just speculating on the advantages/disadvantages and reasoning why or why he wouldn't join the MLS in the near future(3-5 years) .

18 Years old defensive mid from Repentigny. Got scouted by a German Club in the 2nd division, when he was 16 years old (Metz). Coulden't sign a contract until he was 18. Now is in the Academy of a German team in the 1st Division (Bundesliga). He's also the captain for Canada U-20 & Played a couple of games for the Senior team (One alongside Bernier last season against the USA IIRC).

The academy could develop a lot of good young players but if they turn out to be too good we would probably lose them to Europe lol. But anyway there is no harm with that specially if the team can sell them for good prices. But I expect it would take at least 5 years to see substantial results.

That moment in the 89th minute when Portland almost scores and the mic cuts as a result of the sound is insane.

I would like to hope that in 3-5 years, we have 3+ sections that are supporters GA and can get half as intense as they are.

I doubt Saputo would expand the stadium before the foundation of the club has been entranced in Montreal. Perhaps by 2025 we are the Sounders of northeast

Was Riggi the best player in the Academy? The Impact Academy show on matv do not really show who are the best players.

Nope, not at all. Mr. Riggi thought he was the next Ronaldo so he left. He's now playing in Portugal 4th division.
