which on of these rookies will make the top 2 lines to go with Koivu, Kovalev, Ryder, Samsonov, and Ribeiro?
1-A. Kotstityn
2-Perezhogin
3-Latendresse
4-Higgins
5-Plekanec
6-Chipchura
The top 2 lines will consist of: Koivu, Kovalev, Ryder, Higgins, Ribeiro and Samsonov.
Although I do think Chipchura will make the team and Bonk traded for a late round draft pick. (bookmark this post )
The way Latendresse is coming out of camp I think he'll really earn that last spot or at least put up a big fight for it. We need a banger on that line, and it would be good to bring him up with Koivu who makes every around him that much better.

Though I agree that that will be the top 6 in October, the season is so long, you never know what we will look like at the end of the season. If sometime after Xmas A. Kost gets on one of the bottom lines and suddenly explodes, I would have no problem with him put to the left of Koivu and place Higgins on the 3rd. This is in no way stating Higgins isn't good enough, on the contrary, I think he is the most dynamic player we have and I feel he could really thrive on the 3rd (or anywhere). His confidence is now there, he knows where to be when the puck comes to him. Plus being next to Plekanec, who plays a similar game to Koivu, having all of the chemistry they have already from Hamilton, that line could really fly as they'd see a lot of ice time aswell. That would seriously give us 3 exceptional offensive lines and one ofthe best 4th energy lines in the league.

I'd have no problem with that scenario. Pleks and Higgins have played a lot together and work well with each other. Plus Pleks-Higgins would not just be a offensive line because they are both very sound defensively. Either way I believe our lineup will be quite versitile.
I totally agree with these posters, I 3rd line of Higgins, Pleks, and maybe Johnson would be a great 2 way line, leaving Begin, Bonk, and possibly a rookie to play the fourth line.

No way you split up Higgins and Koivu before seeing what happens at training camp. Higgins was one of the top goal scorers in the league after the olympic break.

Perezhogin, Higgins, and Plekanec are sophmores now not rookies and as for the list of rookies that you have, barring a spectacular performance from either Latendresse or Chipchura, Kostitsyn is the only one with a realistic chance of making the team this year nevermind playing on the top two lines. So by realistic process of elimination, I have to choose Kostitsyn.

The only way that could happen this year is if Ryder is traded. Some blogger suggests that Gainey is pursuing a trade for Briere. If that were to happen according to the alleged scenario (which I doubt), Briere would replace Ribeiro between Samsonov and Kovalev and there would be a battle for right wing on Koivu's line between Latendresse, Kostitsyn, and Perezhogin (may the best man win).

But why would you put a rookie on that top line when Higgins was the best player in the second half of the season on that line?It would be pretty dumb if they would do that.
