I didn't see a thread about it, and don't want to start a new one, but I heard on The Team that Anderson had a set-back today at practice and he might still be a ways out from coming back to action?

Anyone have info on that?

When you look at how badly hurt Anderson looked at first, this isn't shocking. Goalies also need to be 100% before coming back - it's not like a defenceman or forward who can suck it up and maybe play in spite of a nagging ankle problem.

Well we are off topic anyway, on to Jarrod Maidens - he is now skating with his junior team, angling for a possible playoff return. This kid just turned 19 yesterday, so time is on his side. Apparently he continues to make progress recovering from that nasty concussion. You just never know with concussions - for a while there, you wondered if Crosby's career was over, but there he is back playing like an MVP again.

Oh, Stone, right, the reason for the thread. :-) Again, here's a guy who can generate some offense. God bless some of the other guys we are rolling out there right now, but it's tough sledding. Puck movement, which was so good with Spezza and Karlsson, is now non-existent. Stone is a guy who can find the open man and get him the puck. I'll bet he and Michalek make an immediate positive impact for us tomorrow night.

Hopefully he wasn't making chicken sandwiches on the bench.

Doesn't Stone have a quick shot too? Or am I mistaken?

People are exaggerating Stone's deficiencies in the skating department.

He struggles off the line (just like Silfverberg) but has average top speed (just like Silfverberg)

They are both players that need to improve there, but if they don't, they still should be quality second liners.

They are extremely smart players which minimizes their skating to an extent, but they just need that extra gear to be that 60-70 point player they have the potential to be.

I think Stone will show flashes like all young guys, but needs more time in the off-season to work with Mr Power. Hes smart enough and physically developed enough to improve on the bottom six imo, which is why I think he sticks for the rest of the year.

Stone isn't a graceful skater so that allows people to believe he is more plodding than he really is as well...he gets around the ice fine from what I can see.

Of course he can learn to be more efficient and his skating can still improve but it's not like he will look out of place on the ice.

Who's going to abuse you? Guy not in his 100 level seats, or guy in a suit staring at his blackberry all game?

This kid wont be sent down.

His game is built for the NHL, expect him to thrive in any role he is placed in.

Against the Leafs

I would prefer Boroweicki instead of Benoit & DD instead of Condra against the Leafs.

Michalek - Turris - Alfredsson
Silfverberg - Regin - Stone
Greening - Zibanejad - Condra
Z. Smith - JOB - Neil/Daugavins/DD

Methot - Benoit
Wiercioch - Gonchar
Phillips - Gryba/Boroweicki

Bishop - Lehner

I'm hoping he can be a net presence on the pp. Haven't seen him play this year, is that something he's known for in Bingo?

I don't really recall seeing him on the PP to be honest... I unno if im blanking out here but I remember a couple times he always played the right boards. Set up a couple beauty passes from there too.

Although he is excellent around the net and Ottawa used him in that role last year.

I cant remember what he did in Bingo, but he was the guy in Brandon. He quarterbacked the pp from the half wall. In the WJC's he played the high slot (iirc)

I think even though hes a big body, it would be a lesser use of his play making and vision to put him in front of the net than for instance in the high slot like we do with Michalek.

His size and grit are nice but he is up here because of his skill. They need someone to start creating offence out there and his skill set could provide the catalyst for that.

If Stone could only skate as well as Silfverberg he'd be a fine addition. Unfortunately I believe his skating is so poor that I don't expect him to amount to much. I hope I have to eat my words but I've long felt Stone is our most over-hyped prospect.

Have you watched him play this year? His skating has vastly improved.

I have. There are lots of mediocre skaters in the AHL so his skating doesn't stand out so much........ it will in the NHL. I'll admit to an enormous bias for players who can fly and teams built on speed.

Hes as good of a skater as Silf is…

People dont realize this because Jakub has a smoother stride.

I guess tomorrow you will see.
