It would likely involve trading Gaborik and buying out Richards who has a full NMC.
Gaborik + Richards for Clowe + Thornton.

That's interesting.

While Clowe has been struggling, it's hard to ignore Thornton and Nash's success...

So for ***** and giggles, How bout:
-Valtteri Filppula (Signed to an extension)
-Jakub Kindl
- Tomas Jurco
-2014 1st

for Gabby
I like this one too. This and the Sens proposal. I don't want to move him, but if we moved him for either of these packages I wouldn't be too distraught.

I'm not an advocate of trading Gaborik, BUT if it looks like Marc Staal is going to be out for a while, our D looks like

McDonagh/Girardi

Del Zotto/Stralman

?/Eminger

Right now that question mark is going to be filled with either Gilroy or Bickel - neither of which makes me want to jump for joy. If Staal is out long term I would consider trying to trade Gaborik to Nashville with depth D being the centerpiece of their end of the trade.

Fischer. Blum/Ellis and 1st looks like the best thing I've seen on this thread.

Gaborik isnt waiving his NTC on a potential cup team to play in Nashville or Colorado.

Gaborik is moved throughout the line-up

Not having the greatest of seasons, but still on pace for pro-rated 27 goals and that's taking into consideration he's scored just 2 goals in over a month.

I disagree with the last statement. I think at the draft, the Rangers will get a very solid return for him.

That's no better than the Fil, Jurco, Kindl proposal (probably better, actually). And Rangers fans seemed to like it.

Nashville is in a rough patch, sure, but they were also in the western semis the last two seasons, and Gaborik would likely put them right back into contention.

It's not like you're talking about some dirtbag lottery team. There are few teams as consistently good as Nashville.

That's too much. Gaborik is only signed for one more year and there's no guarantee he would re-sign. That's a better package than NY traded for a signed Rick Nash.

NY fans seem to like Fisher, and I think he fits in with what NY needs (gritty, heart and soul 2/3 center that can play in all situations and score 20 goals)

Blum or Watson (would rather it be Blum based on our current assets, but understand that Watson is younger and probably has a higher ceiling than Blum)

1st (probably in the 15-20 range)

Could probably throw Matt Halischuk in as well, if you want some additional utility depth\a player that is useful with some untapped upside.

Would it be possible to switch Nyquist with Tatar? Otherwie I like it

This makes a lot of sense too. Watson would fit the identity well.

Nash is better than Gaborik. Nash's shot is every bit is as good as Gabby's, he's as fast or close enough as makes no difference. And he's much more physical and can play along the boards.

Statistically, Gabby will probably always score more goals, but I'll take Nash over Gabby 10 times out of 10. Gabby is an opportunist. Nash makes things happen.

There really is no difference between Tatar and Nyquist, other than Nyquist is the leading scorer in the AHL, and Tatar is in the NHL. I would argue Nyquist is better, even.

Not going to work with cap recapture in place. Richards is going to stay in NY or he'll be bought out. We can't risk a huge cap hit coming back to bite us in the ass if/when he retires before the contract runs out.

Limited NTC. No specifics on how many teams, but it was reported when he signed the deal that it wasn't a full NTC. Might not have either team on the list.

The bolded's not true. If Nash had Gabby's shot, he'd be a perennial 50 goal scorer. His shot is actually pretty meh. It's not bad, but not great. That's not where his skills lie.

Very possibly true, but Tatar has a bit more size which may makehim more valuable in NY.

The tricky part is weeding out the Rangers fans who want value for Gaborik from those who just want to get rid of him for some silly reason.
