You could see this coming a mile away. I think this was done BEFORE the Staal injury.
This probably means Bickel is gone.

I do not like what this means with Staal. I really hope he is ok.Might not mean anything with him also though.

Wouldn't they have put in the claim yesterday?

I wouldn't say that yet...Staal easily won't be able to play for a week or two I am sure. They need someone who can come in and play right away. Hartford is lacking.

Ah, beat to the punch, well played.
I'm not that against this. He's old, and has lost a step or two, but can still log somewhat solid third pairing minutes. Not surprised at this move at all, really.
Logging 22 minutes a night in last year's playoffs.

Yeah, I'm thinking this doesn't have anything to do with Staal. He's good on the PP, nice shot, some offense ability, and a vet. Nice no-risk pick up.

Hopefully this is just so Bickel won't play

Already have Gilroy sitting so this isn't for depth.
I was positive this time but Staal must be out awhile

I don't think this has anything to do with Staal. But I still don't like it.

I'm looking at it as a potential upgrade for the PP.
Holding out hope that Staal isn't seriously injured because of the non hospital trip.

He was really bad against us last year in the playoffs. Kreider, Gaborik, Hags, and McD can all skate 5 laps before he finishes one.
And yes, didn't we have to claim him yesterday?
Also, does this mean that we are at 50 contracts? Or not, because Nicholls' doesn't start until next year?

If he's an upgrade over Bickel and/or Eminger, then it's an okay move....
Not getting my hopes up though.

Not a bad pickup but I pray this isn't indicative of Staal...
