Hopefully my kid helps turn that around

Well, if he's not in private school!

LaValle is a good player no doubt, but metro player of the year is very debatable, typical Hill bias from the Pioneer Press. Watching them at sections I thought Slattery was playing better than LaValle. Slattery is very fun player to watch and is a guy to keep an eye on this weekend.

I've never understood why you'd put your kid in private school in Minnesota. I get why people do that in places like California but the public schools are so good here...maybe even better than the privates if you're in the right district. Private schools in MN always struck me as something you do less for quality reasons and more for religious reasons or because you're rich and want your kid to mingle with other rich kids.

^I dunno so much about that. Working in collaboration with some of the schools around the metro area and doing an internship at one, there are a lot of them to not get too excited about. Depends on the district, but I am not overly jocking the public school systems of Minnesota too hard.

He was East-Metro player of the year. PP has gone so weird over the years I don't even know how they break their stuff down anymore. Two players on their \All East-Metro team were from WI, for the first time ever. PP is just getting so much more weirder and weirder over the years but they are all I have to go to for local news really.

I've heard our public schools are some of the best, state-wise, in the entire country. Of course it depends on district/school, as pointed out above.

I'm not terribly impressed with the SP public high schools, although maybe that changes when my kid gets older.

I wouldn't send my kid to a SP public school. Not right now at least, like you said. Maybe it will improve.

It's funny because all the schools around us (good neighborhood) have worse test scores than the ones further out because they bus so many kids in. Central has this great national rating but then the local school board rep called it a prison and it's located in about as bad a neighborhood as you can find in St Paul

I grew up in a bad neighborhood in MPLS and my parents sent me to private school until we could afford to move to a nice suburb. Worked out well.

I've heard about Central having this stellar record but I don't know why. The neighborhood is a dump over there - mostly - just right around the HS. I'd never send my kid there.

Central is a school in a prison costume.

I'm pretty sure Nick Swardson went to Central, and look how he turned out!

I know three kids who have graduated from Central in the last 10 years who grew up in the St. Paul public school system (in Jaricks neighborhood) All got into nice schools on great scholarships. Stanford, NYU, and UCLA

Yeah I mean technically it's a nice school but it's practically in the ghetto. Just weird.

That Selby, University, Snelling, Grand Ave. area is just weird. You got some of the best colleges in the nation over there and then you got Frogtown, and so on, where you can pick up a decent hooker I'm told.

Our supposed future ace Kyle Gibson threw three wild pitched in one inning yesterday.

Gibson won't be an ace, I think his ceiling is maybe a #2.

There's a reason Melrose barely lasted a month as a coach.

At least Melrose brought the Kings to the Finals in '93. I like Melrose and don't know why people hate him so much around here. He's never seemed callous or mean spirited in any way to me and I loved him with John Buccigross and Chicken Parm on NHL2Nite.

Percy Harvin traded to Seattle for draft picks:

Source says Percy Harvin is on his way to Seattle for physical right now. Deal is done. Percy is a Seahawk.
If they can get Jennings and Wallace, we're okay. If we can get one of them, we'll be meh. If neither, just blow this **** up.

First rounder? Okay... still would have rather seen the Vikings sit Harvin down and give him both the business and the paycheck he may need to actually want to play here.

If we don't sign Wallace or Jennings, Ponder is doomed to fail. Our WR corp was bad enough last year, now take away are best WR(top 15 in NFL when healthy) and he won't have a chance. Hopefully Spielman believes they have a shot at Wallace/Jennings.
