So when Arsenal spanked you 5-2 earlier this season, you lost to a bad team?

I must have missed that Liverpool 2-5 loss to Arsenal this year. LITN is a LFC fan, take off your blinders. it is plain to see that for more than half the year, Arsenal has not played well.

note: I also am not a Spurs fan, but that 5-2 game was decided by Ade being an idiot.

I'm not a Spurs fan so I don't know what you're going on about. That 5-2 game was one moment of good in the midst of a sea of bad results for Arsenal.

The fact is that over the last few months every side with quality they've played against has given them big problems. They have a bit of flat track bully about them which is not a good mentality. Honestly, if the league were as good as it was a few years ago they'd be miles behind the other three top four sides. And because mine would be too does not mean I cannot comment on Arsenal.

They need to get rid of both starting central defenders pronto. They're not good enough. Vermaelen is good on the ball but his defending is amateurish. Mertesacker has been this player for a long time, even at Werder and as a starter at Germany. He wasn't good enough to play for a good Arsenal side when he was signed and still isn't.

The one positive for Arsenal fans is that their run-in is fairly weak, so if they continue the flat track bully mindset they could finish fourth anyway. They haven't struggled against too many poor teams.

Been a while since I checked in here. Iím new to the EPL, started watching this season with some friends. Adopted Tottenham as my club at the start of the year and obviously thatís paying off pretty good for me. Happy to say Iíve been loving it all season. I gather it doesnít usually go this well for the Spurs. Being a fan of the Buffalo Bills in the NFL and New York Mets in baseball, it really feels like Iím being set up for a major letdown such as falling out of the Champions League (Iím a Blue Jackets fan too, but you have to be built up, to be let down so they donít apply here).

Is this so, are Spurs playing above their heads, or does anyone think Spurs can hold on to a top 4 spot this year? It'd be awesome if they could scrape their way up to #2.

With Bale, they're probably close to a top 4 team. Without him, it's a debate. The issue for them is more, can they be consistent, because the teams around them probably won't be.

Probably close to a top 4 team? They are a top 4 team team. Were last year, should be again this year.

Since 2005, Spurs have consistently been a team that achieves between 60 and 70 points per season. Break the seventy points barrier and a club can more or less guarantee Champions League football. 65 to 69 and there's still a good chance. With 54 points on the board and ten games to go, Spurs should hold a top four place. But they've blown up in the last stretch before.

I don't think Spurs are playing above their heads, but they're drawing heavily upon Gareth Bale, who is having the best season of his young career. They don't have tremendous strength in depth, so they're vulnerable if Bale loses form and no one else picks up the slack, or if injuries hit them hard.

Should be.

There's still a bit to go through the season.

If they fall apart, I accept the blame. That's what my favorite teams do.

2nd is the goal and it's very much possible.

With 10 games to go, the schedules are extremely similar with the exception than ManC still has ManU AND they have to go to Spurs.

If Spurs can beat ManC, that would put them just 2 points out. Very realistic goal.

QPR is up 2-1 on Sunderland, if they win they're only 1 point out of relegation zone. Good old 'arry.

On round 29 actually, this is last week's thread. To save the mods trouble, maybe they should rename this one rounds 28 and 29?

Important wins for QPR and Villa, Reading might be done. Their next 2 games are Man Utd and Arsenal away.

Part of me wants to see QPR relegated for their reckless spending on players and wages but part of me wants to see them stay up as it'd be quite a story.

Come on you reds! Big match today and with a win our hopes for Europe next year would get a significant boost.

Is Sturridge back in the squad yet?
