How many of you think that Marc Staal will start wearing a visor after what happened?

I dont think the short stop analogy really works but thats just my opinion.

Really talented players can make skill plays from thier off wing still.
Caps used to have a guy that scored goals playing on his offwing come to think of it....

I haven't read any updates today. Is he going to require surgery? Hopefully not. If he doesn't wear one we can categorize him as a fool and he deserves whatever he gets from that point, facial injury wise. Everyone gets one reprieve but after that if you still haven't learned your lesson... no sympathy at all.

Ovy has played the off wing his entire NHL career. Oates is trying to make him switch.

Yeah it doesn't apply IMO either. Being on your offside gives you such a better shooting angle. The said, once you open up your body to take advantage of the shooting angle, you sort of telegraph things. There are advantages to both and I think Ovy shouldn't be forced to change positions.

I wholeheartedly agree Chancellor. I read somewhere on the forums last night that Staal didn't even go to the hospital. If that's true, that's just dumb luck. That same play could easily have been career ending. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

He apparently did not go to the hospital, but Eric Staal said they won't really know anything before the swelling goes down. I hope he got away with it, but it isn't definite yet. Eye injuries are tricky stuff.

Yeah, I totally read the Rangers board, I was curious.

NYR news on Staal, relatively speaking, +ve. Injury improved significantly. Drs. optimistic Marc to make full recovery. Out indefinitely.

I already felt that way. As bad as it sounds, my initial reaction after he got hit was "yeah...that's what you get for being an idiot."

Any mandatory visor rule would have to be approved through the PA, right?

I think we all know how that would go.

It's a toughness thing, as dumb as it is. In international tournaments (Unless you were born before 1977 I believe) and in junior, you need to wear a visor. Fewer and fewer players are coming through to the NHL without visors. It'll become a non-issue except for the odd few who want to run the risk.

Total beat down of Dzuryinski (sp) by Frazer McLaren in Sens/Leafs. D is out with a concussion. Not quite as bad as Asham/Beagle last year, but pretty ugly.

Shields should be mandatory after a certain date. Grandfather clause should be accepted for existing players, provided the PA accepts such changes. There was a time when helmets weren't used either, but the game needs to evolve.

So does the streak end tonight? 2-1 Avs heading into the third.

Wow, what a coast to coast play by Nick Leddy. It didn't result in a goal, but a great scoring chance. The kid can fly.

Nice shorty by the 3rd pick in the 2006 draft. Also helped out by a blatant interference/slash that went uncalled.

We've got some drama in Chi. Tie game in the third, both netminders making great saves.

Sheesh. They're getting so much good fortune from the hockey gods now, they're almost guaranteeing themselves an early playoff exit.

Hockey gods clearly weren't fans of Hawks tonight

Hossa
Shaw
Sharp

All hurt

Hawks had 8 forwards for most of the 3rd period

Car Bomb

That hurts. Sacco can just say nothing and go to the bus; no message sending required there.

Hawks clearly took some damage tonight though... going to be tough to finish that streak but I hope they do it. **** the Flyers. They're not worthy of holding records except for futility.
