Bob is playing well so far this year. I'm actually starting to think that no goalie is goin to look like a top 10 or 15 goalie as long as we are running this system

Any goalie will look like **** when he's left out to dry most of the game.

This is true. So IMO we either need to change the system we play or just go with cheap goalie options and try to load up as much on offense and defense. Because right now bryz looks just a little better than Boucher and Bob looked a couple seasons ago
Holmgren should go after Bishop in OTT. They've been looking to unlaod him for awhile now since they originally wanted to go with Anderson and Lehner, but couldnt, so they had to send Lehner to the minors since Bishop has to go through waivers.
Bishop is exactly the one I thought about also. I think he would be a good fit.
What would it cost the Flyers to get him in a trade?
Bryz has come down off his cloud and I genuinely think it's down to accumulative fatigue. We can't ice Boucher or Leighton because without it all clicking at the other end it's a guaranteed loss.
Who's available to come in? We need someone who can play 25~ games in a full-length season and not embarrass himself.
We need a competent starter before we start worrying about backups.

That's what the Flyers tried for YEARS and it didn't quite work out for us. The whole reason we have Bryzgalov is because everyone was calling for a #1 goaltender because having cheap goalies wasn't getting the job done.

I'm not saying that is the way I want the team to move forward, but if they are going to keep bryz and keep playing this system then it is going to be more of the same.

Minimum is a 2nd round pick or a prospect like Gostisbehere for Bishop. Ottawa knows they've got a legitimate netminder in Bishop and they know that they can get a nice return for him. With that being said, the Sens can't be too greedy because they know next year, Lehner won't be able to clear waivers and they aren't going to carry 3 netminders.
I want the Flyers to draft and develop a goaltender to be an elite guy. Why can't we find a Lundqvist or a Rinne and develop him? I hope Stolarz can be a great goaltender.

Just give Stolarz time. Bob was the first young goalie we had in a while that went anywhere and he didn't even have a goalie coach before us. Stolarz has been amazing for the Knights and give him about 3 or 4 years at least and I'm sure the kid will really shine. Lundqvist was kind of a fluke (more in the sense of his draft position) that turned out amazing. Also, even though Rinne himself is very good, he's still part of a very balanced and tuned system.
Bernier or Bishop please. I'd give max of 2 2nd rounders draft wise. Player wise Im not sure. We need a competent backup NOW. I cannot believe it has gotten to this point.
eWhats w the Bryz hate goin on? We shouldn't be looking for a backup to challenge him for the job, this season so far has shown we have our guy IMO, and I was all for buying Bryz out this summer back in January. We need to go after someone who wont cost us anything drastic. Bishop would be nice, but why give up substantial pieces? We need a Dan Ellis type guy (not him specifically). A guy who is a solid career backup who knows his role and can get Bryz some rest
edit: And Im sorry but Mez for Bishop isnt a move u make at this point in time. We need the D MUCH more than we need a backup, and that would be selling low on Andrej

He might be expendable if Gustaffson can continue his strong play. Plus Mez costs 4 million to be injured most of the time. We also don't give upp prospects or picks this way, which we need to stockpile.

Fair enough, but I still think thats better as an offseason move if ever. Haven't heard anything on the Grossmann injury yet, but if he's out we need the body. Mez could be expendable in the longterm plan, but lets not forget he's not long removed from being our 'best D-man'. I dont hate the trade, I just dont like it at this point in time.
even if we get a back up what are the odds the lav is going to play him? this is why bob struggled here last year and year before because he didnt balance these goalies out. hopefully if lav gets fired, a different coach will balance the goalies and not give bryz all the starts, it's the reason why he's struggling, it happened with bob in 11, he played too many games.
