Would like to see those combos.
Me too. Probably need to put Boyle in instead of Haley realistically though.

There's no way that 2nd line would work. Unless Zuccarello worked on his skating.

And I'd have Halpern in the lineup. He's been better than Boyle this year. I don't think it'll be an issue, though, because I'm not sure if Kreider will be back up this season.

We dumped PAP for no reason. Now he has a point per game and we are last in the East in scoring. We always pass on these players, PAP, MZA, various draftees, then whine that we cant score and our PP sucks.

Maybe we can use an occasional perimeter player who has elite offensive skill.

I'm probably the biggest MZA supporter here, but it'll be a cold day in hell before he gets a 1way contract for multiple yrs from Sather.

Next year our depth should be significantly improved. Either Fasth or Thomas should make the team as a RW. Hrivik should make it as a LW. This would allow us to trade Boyle+Pyatt for a very good third liner. If MZA also makes it, we could trade Boyle+Pyatt+Powe for a borderline second line guy. I can definitely see them fetching back someone like Anisimov back.

Moderation is the key to many things in life. I agree with you!

I think i'd like to see it because Zuccarello primarily works on feeding players the puck and Gaborik needs a spark plug.

I also think Boyle on the 4th would work cause that's what would be his ideal line. I think he's a little over his head right now. If his role is limited maybe he can find his spark too.

That line up has little grit though. I'd be in favor of trading Boyle and adding in some big ass center who's ready to scrap.

You may be right but on the other hand Slats has always spoken positively about Zooks.

I would have these lines:

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Miller-Richards-Callahan
Zuccarello-Boyle-Gaborik
Powe-Halpern-Pyatt

Boyle on 4C would be a perfect fit and he could still be used on PK. And no matter what haters say, he is a NHL caliber player.

Miller is more of playmaker, and Cally would be the finisher.

Yeah, I like that line too - at least the thought of it. Could be a successful group.

Well, remember that they did offer him a contract after last season, which he refused much on the grounds of that it was a two-way deal. One would think Sather has some idea of what it would take to sign Zuccarello, or he wouldn't even have decleared an intrest in bringing him back.

Good point.

The fact that Slats actually went out and stated that we wanted him back like that could definitely indicate that Slats were prepared to go some distance to get him here.

Go the distance?

Quote:
The Rangers’ waiver claim of defenseman Roman Hamrlik will make a contract offer to Mats Zuccarello more problematic.

Hamrlik represents the 49th player under contract in the organization, one under the league maximum. Adding Zuccarello, the restricted free agent whose Magnitogorsk Metallurg KHL team was eliminated from the the playoffs on Tuesday, would severely restrict the Rangers’ options approaching the April 3 trade deadline.

General manager Glen Sather told The Post last week that he would reach out to Zuccarello at the conclusion of his season, but the club has not presented the winger with a formal offer despite having had informal discussions on the matter with agent Don Meehan.

Zuccarello is under a two-year contract that contains an NHL out clause after this season. The Blueshirts would therefore have to extend the 25-year-old a one-way offer through at least next season in order to induce him to leave Russia.

Doesn't sound like the Rangers are prepared to go the distance.

Makes sense. Don't see them making an offer that he would accept unless we face injuries on fwd. Since he's an UFA in 2014 I say trade his right at the deadline if it's possible to get a decent return.

Unless NYR trades 2-3 lower players/contracts for 1 player/contract it could be an issue..

A guy with 2 career goals is now considered a finisher?
