Homer seems to make some minor trades each season but I'm guessing some of them will eventually pay off... we got Mark Alt when Boosh returned. Alt may be a diamond in the ruff.

We got a 1st and 3rd for Umbergler but in hindsight we should have taken Del Zotto, Eberle or Ennis. and that 3rd rounder we took Bourdon when Henrique was available...but of course its all in hindsight.

why not go after Brian Elliott instead? he's having an off year, which means next season he will be standing on his head again. at 1.8 he is going to cost the same as if we kept Bob but Elliott is a way better goalie when he's on his game IMO.

No way I'm trading him + 1st for Ryan.
Ryan is a proven goal-scoring forward who would (I am wagering) improve the first line beyond what Voracek will over the next few years. I'm selling high on Voracek.

lol, who doesn't make that trade? Oh, that's right, Nashville.
Note the word "if", which implies mitigating circumstances, like Weber wanting out and/or Poile making the choice to get out of that contract.

I still want Ryan, but now not at the price of Voracek. I think he could be had at the draft and not during the season. I think Read would be part of the package actually. Of course Duck fans will say no, but it's a possibility. Maybe even Briere if he makes it to this off season, the ducks need a second line center pretty bad.

I don't want Ryan for Jake. Especially for 1 year. Unless he signs an extension with us what's the point? The guy can test the open market and get paid to the point of once again making the Flyers cap strapped? Great player not the right time.

Edit: 1 year being one full season.

None of those games are easy wins, not even Buffalo or Tampa Bay.

We start Leighton we are looking at Seth Jones

If we lose the next two we are in trouble. I hope Homer doesn't just chalk it up to a shortened season and injuries. I would like him to move some pieces and stock up on players. We could manage to get some good talent in the first 2 rounds of the draft. 2 1sts and 2 2nds would be splendid, and even if we did move them for some other roster players, I wouldn't be mad. Depending on the player of course

Also everytime I think we have a stretch of games we will be horrible in, we come out and play good hockey.

If we start MFL for the rest of the year, I'm sending the hospital bill to the Flyers.

Jones would fix a lot of weaknesses we have. This is assuming he reaches his ceiling and is NHL ready. He can grow and develop with the rest of the young guns. For that alone I support starting Leighton, even though he is a terrible goalie.

Start Leighton = Jones;
Start Bryz = ?????? <--- No idea what happens as Bryz is consistently inconsistent.

Jones' is NHL ready. He's dominated at every level so far there's really nothing left for him to prove in juniors. He's also late birthday so he's one of the oldest players in this draft.

Yea if we draft Seth Jones(still think it's a pipedream) he would be in our lineup immediately to begin next season. Although I usually don't agree with throwing defenseman into the fire like that, it would make more sense for him to start with the big club.

I think it's 99% guaranteed he'll be in the NHL next year regardless of where he ends up.

Toronto is looking to add a top 3 defender and a number 1 center with size. Ottawa is looking to add a defender as well, but I remember seeing they really didn't want to part with roster players for him.

Of course JVR back to Philly

Another thing, what the hell's up with Edmonton always sending multiple scouts to games?

Really?

In every year but this one, Ryan significantly outscored Voracek.
2013 : 10 G, 17 A = 27 ///// 6 G, 11 A = 17
2011-12: 18 G, 31 A = 49 ///// 31 G, 26 A = 57
2010-11: 14 G, 32 A = 46 ///// 34 G, 37 A = 71
2009-10: 16 G, 34 A = 50 ///// 35 G, 29 A = 64
2008-09: 9 G, 29 A = 38 ///// 31 G, 26 A = 57 (in 64 games)

As for cost, Voracek is cheaper ... by $850,000, younger ... by 2 years, and signed for a grand total of 1 more year.
Cap hit: $4.25 million ///// $5.1 million
Years: 3 ///// 2

Ottawa will need help. When Anderson returns we need to try and get Bishop.

I'd love to get Bishop, hell, I'd be content with Elliot. Blues fans are making it seem like he could be had for a bag of pucks, I'd definitely toss St. Louis a mid round pick for him. He's been struggling, but I believe Elliot in a wheelchair on the ice saves more than Boosh/Leights.

Is Bishop that good? I don't really know too much about him. Unless Bryz is bought out, I don't think the Flyers should trade anything of substance for a backup. It is clear the Flyers need a better backup, but if Bishop (or another guy) is going to cost a lot, just wait for free agency and go after someone not named Leighton or Boucher.
