Eh, I think they're a very good conference, but I don't believe they're going to have like 8 teams in the SS16 or anything. I don't particularly think Michigan is suited for a long run in the tourney.

Those Latin Nights jerseys are stupid. Los Bulls? El Heat? Garbage. If anything they should translate the entire team name into Spanish, it wouldn't look so bad then.

Same. Now just need Sabathia to pull a fat muscle and miss the first half of the season.

I hate it either way. This gimmick crap turns me off when it starts to effect the stuff I see in the game.

Syzmborski ranked his top players in 2018 and ranked Castro at 8, Rizzo at 15 and Sale at 23

http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story...five-year-deal

Quote:
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Chicago White Sox and left-handed pitcher Chris Sale have agreed in principle on a five-year contract extension worth as much as $60 million, according to a league source.

Sale will receive $35 million guaranteed over the first three years of the deal with club options for the final two that could add $25 million, according to the source.
I'd be lying if I said I understood why at this point.

What is it you don't understand? I think that's a good deal for a guy who is only 23, and coming off a great year. Did he have a few cheaper years left on his other deal that they wasted?

I think he was still pre-arbitration. But, if he wins the Cy or comes close again, then you're looking at messy arby.

Wow, great deal for the Sox. You don't mess around with a talent like this. Another big year and he'd be looking at 15M+ per.

its actually 5 years 32.5(exactly half of danks' contract)with 2 option years of 12.5 and 13.5 mil. if he stays healthy its an absolute steal

He only has two years of service time. He couldn't be a free agent until after 2016, and he'd be going to his first arbitration year next year. Nobody gets $15+ in their first arbitration year.

They ripped up a nearly-free pre-arb year in order to get two very team-friendly option years at the back-end. That's not a bad deal, but it's not one I'd be dancing over if I were a White Sox fan either.

wrong, they have him at 6.5 for the next 5 years and then 2 team friendly options. that's a steal if he pitches anything like last year. no way would he get under 10 in arbitration if he pitched similar

I just think it's a little early at this point. Hopefully in 5 years I look back on this completely wrong.

its a pretty low risk deal. even the Sox won't be too devastated over 6mil a year. and the upside of potentially having him locked up for 7 years at 60mil is just absolutely massive considering his season last year and the fact he's only 23

Exactly, it's a wonderful deal for the Sox. And to those guys saying he could have another Cy Young type season this year and not demand 15M per in a contract extension, I don't know what to tell you.

Ok, looking at the numbers again I like it more. I saw 5 yrs/$60M and thought WTF??? But seeing it as 5/35 and 7/60 is much, well, a billion times better.

He can demand whatever he wants. Four years from FA is four years from FA.

But ok, it was first described to me as 3 years + two option years. It's 5 years + 2 option years, so that's a pretty solid deal.

He's a pitcher with a recent history of arm troubles, so there's still some downside, but there's plenty of upside too.
