Soon to be followed by the Forbes list of billionaire hockey owners that mysteriously has only 7 names on it...

#437: Clayton Riddell $3.1B
#868: N. Murray Edwards $1.75B

On a side note, the Flames ownership group apparently wasn't willing to pay for Ales Kotalik's contract in the minors.

Notable relevant absentees from the list:

Jim Balsillie
Rudy Bratty
Larry Tanenbaum

I'm somewhat surprised Tanenbaum in particular didn't crack the list. His MLSE shares alone are worth nearly $600 million, if you go by the recent sale.

Ron Joyce, $1.2B

Quote:
Joyce co-founded Tim Horton's doughnut chain with former NHL player Tim Horton, then sold the company to Wendy's for $600 million in 1995. A former policeman, Joyce reportedly met his future business partner in the early 1960s after visiting the Tim Horton Donut Shop while on patrol. By 1967, he had followed his gut and opened up two more restaurants under the same name, becoming a full partner with Horton in the process.

When Horton died in a car accident in 1974, Joyce bought his partner's shares and became the sole owner of the chain. After the Wendy's transaction he became the fast food chain's largest shareholder, gaining more than 16 million shares.

By 2003 he had sold off all his Wendy's shares, enjoying a considerable pop in the stock in the intervening years. He says he has since diversified his portfolio, picking shares in established Canadian companies and industries that provide considerable dividend income.

He owns an aircraft charter company and the Fox Harb'r golf resort on the north shore of Nova Scotia. He serves as chairman emeritus of the Tim Horton Children Foundation.

I think I'll take Forbes word over an unsourced celebritynetworth.com site.

Looking at past Forbes lists, I have not found Snider listed in any of their Billionaire or Forbes-400 (Richest Americans) lists.

The only sourced data point I found was a USA Today NBA owner piece which listed him at $310M in '04-'05.

Meh I wouldn't trust forbes. They've been known to make some massive errors in their listing from time to time.
Obviously not for the guys on the top end of the list. But when you start talking about guys who investments are in the entertainment side of things it can be a real wash.

Funny how some valuations put out by Forbes are considered true while others such as team valuations are just hogwash
