Iginla?
Smyth?
Jumbo Joe?
This place would implode becoming a singularity so dense, it would suck in the entire universe.

Didn't someone say they were scouting a yotes game, too? Terrified it's Raffi Torres they're looking at.

I bet we are looking at Vermette.

Ties with Chia back to Ottawa and friends with Bergeron

The Timonen extension. He's getting somewhat more accurate lately. He just posts rumours in volume to get page hits to his website because that's how he makes a living. I think Iginla is the obvious one given that Eklund said "legend". Still you never know with Eklund the legitimacy.

Pretty much. I think he also had the terms of the CBA before TSN and CBC.

not gonna lie....I'd absolutely friggin' love it if Joe came back to Boston for a shot at a cup (and redemption). KPD would lose his mind too so that's another positive.

With that said they have no reason to trade him and we'd be stuck with his 7m cap hit next year.

KPD used to post inside info, but he also liked to "stir the pot" (don't want to say the T word because I'll get an infraction for it)... and towards the end of him posting here it was all of the latter and none of the former.
Any real inside information they're gonna put out there somewhere to get the views. They're not gonna share something on a message board they wouldn't otherwise. On one hand I get why people were so hard on them, Haggs especially is a hack but on the other hand it was neat to have media guys like that around.

how can we expect to afford the return they would want for him?

No chance it is Joe.

1) He is not a legend.

2) #19 isn't available.

3) SJ is in the hunt as a contender.

4) It is Iginla and it will happen.

When i heard we were scouting S/J my first wish was to bring Thornton back ..... tell ya though, I'd have my Big Joe bobble head right back up on the mantle before the ink was on the trade papers !

I won't say 100% it will not be J.Thornton. But, I would be extremly surprised. I really think the Bruins will be trying to acquire Iginla. I would absolutely love to see Iginla in Boston. I have heard some R.Clowe rumors as welll....not sure if valid.

Start cheering for Calgary to lose...

I think it is a lock that if Calgary goes on a cold streak (something like 4-8) the rest of the month, we will see Jarome Iginla here in April in a Bs sweater.

So, time to start cheering against Calgary, as I think Iginla would put us over the top in the East.

Here is their sched:

@ Anaheim
@ LA
@ LA
vs. Detroit
vs. Nashville
@ Dallas
@ Nashville
@ Columbus
vs. St. Louis
@ Chicago
vs. Colorado
vs. Columbus

Then they play Edmonton on April 1st.

The trading deadline is April 3.

I can see the trade happening right after they play Chicago on the 26th.

What would the Flames honestly take for Iggy?

I am thinking Spooner, our 1st round pick, and one of Caron or Warsofsky or Svedberg.

No way do I think jumbo joe is even being thought of. I assume he has a no trade clause but I don't know that. If so, I doubt he would ever lift it to come back here.

I thought Bruins would be after Iginla for sure but I think they are going soemwheres else now.I want flames to "WIN" to keep him away from Penguins. They want him bad.He got 7 goals last 6 games too and played with Crosby before .

If only, any Eklund rumor assures that he made it up and it's not true. Only time I want Jagr mentioned in a Bruins trade is by Eklund.

I have watched him play a few times on tv. Just a glimpse. I also looked up his stats. I never said he was elite. I said he was a good player/a goal scorer. Oh Boy.

i get this isnt sexy or anything and everyone will probably laugh, but with the bruins looking at the sharks and chi always looking outside the box i get a weird feeling maybe their looking at james sheppard. former first rounder, lefty shot, played in the league as a 19 year old and had some success. had that bad atv accident and gets dealt to the sharks. I know hes not lighting it up but neither is clowe and probably much much cheaper. Plus read this description of sheppard from hockeys future

" Sheppard brings great skating ability and a strong drive to the net with his good-sized frame. He uses his size to his advantage and doesn’t mind partaking in the physical game, which helps in his creating space in front of the net and in the trenches along the boards."

^pretty much what pevs and kelly need, worth a shot

EDIT: plus he's from the same part of halifax as marchy, same age too.... gotta think theres some connection
