Crazy over payment....

Why don't we do like the Hawks, you draft good, you get better, player wants to play for you in the off season so you get them FOR FREE.

We were not suppose to be this good this year.... tanking aborted to early

No one implied that? Stewart isn't worth Beaulieu though.

That's a nice price but at same time they have little inventive to do it. I question our incentive as well. Bourque has been decent in his role and beaulieu is a good prospect. Chris Stewart wouldn't be a bad pick up though, just depends on where he fits and what we give.

definitely wouldn't consider Stewart to be worth Beaulieu/Bourque/2nd... at least not from us.

If we're moving Beaulieu, I'd rather try to pry Polak from the blues than Stewart. He'd fill a bigger need, is signed for 3 more years on a very good contract, and would give us 3 solid defensive dmen (Emelin/Gorges/Polak) to complement our quality puck movers (Subban/Markov/Diaz).

Stewart would be a slightly bigger/tougher Bourque, which would be nice, but not worth trading away 2 quality assets and a similar player (on what will be a cheaper contract starting next year).

Pass

He's worth Bourque + Beaulieu, but it doesn't mean that's what we'd offer for him. Polak would be great.

Definitely not, imo. I wouldn't trade him straight up for Stewart. 1 for 1 has an argument, but adding anything to NB would be crazy. Beaulieu is underrated and I have a feeling some are overrating Stewart. I'd love to have him in the lineup, but not at the price of Beaulieu.

If we could have him for less i'd be happy, but Stewart is exactly what all teams around the league are looking for, a heavy weight that can play top-6.

Stewart is a better Bourque and the 2nd makes up for the talent gap. Adding Beaulieu is absolutely ridiculous overpayment. Maaaybe another prospect but def not NB.

He isn't a heavyweight, and yes every team wants toughness+skill. Beaulieu has the tools to be a legit stud and bring some size toughness. Stewart will always be a secondary scorer. Hefty price to pay imo.

A signed and motivated Chris Stewart is worth a Beaulieu. An underperforming rental Chris Stewart isn't.

And nobody will or should ever give up a big asset for a guy where motivation is an issue.

Well he took out some heavyweights, and fights heavyweights, so i'd consider him a heavyweight at 6"2 220lbs. A secondary scorer that has more skills than any winger not named Pacioretty on our team. Beaulieu is very gifted and big but he doesn't hit much, but is good at clearing the net, not a fighter though (answering your comment on toughness).

That's not what i'd offer, Beaulieu, and i'm not sure that's what they're looking for, would be a pretty retareded move for them.

only if you consider bourque a negative asset... which could be argued given his disastrous season last year and the term on his contract.

otherwise, Beaulieu is a highly rated prospect, puck moving big bodied dman who was drafted at the same spot as Stewart and who has made a quick/seamless transition to the pro game.

Stewart at his best is worth that, sure, but his inconsistency vs. Beaulieu's potential is, at this stage, not worth it imo

Beaulieu can fight. Not on Stewarts level, but he can go.

Gionta + Weber + Kristo

Stewart + Jackman

Gives us a top-6 W core of Patches, Stewart, Gallagher, and Bourque going forward.

Jackman is a FA I believe but adds some veteran influence to replace Gionta and is a great guy to have for a playoff run.
