Do not want Jackman and Stewart is to tempermental.
Perron and Berglund and a 1st for Gaborik, Boyle and Del Zotto
Trading Berglund is a non starter the Blues have no center depth. Also as has been said many times the Blues cannot afford Gaborik so we have zero interest in trading for him.
We'd want McD or Staal and we'd add. MDZ doesn't fill the mold that we'd want, and you have to add him.
think that a MDZ for Perron deal would be more than fair.
However considering needs I can see why there is no match.
If Sather wasn't willing to include MDZ in a deal for Ryan O'Reilly, don't see him including MDZ and an addition for Perron.
I like Perron, think that he's one hell of a hockey player. I think that O'Reilly brings more to the game than Perron and would be willing to part with a bit more for him. That said, I believe a MDZ for RO'R deal even up is also fair.
Contending teams in need of goals do not give up their scorers for that reason.
He has struggled massively this season. 5 of his 7 goals have come in 2 games. Half of his points have come in 2 games, and 78.5% of his points have come in 4 games.
I would probably prefer moving Gaborik in the offseason, but I believe that this trade would make the Rangers a better team.
Your comments regarding Gaborik are a bit confusing though, you are saying that the Rangers shouldn't trade Gaborik but at the same time saying that he's terrible?
I'm not a fan of Gaborik's style and don't think he fits the team well enough, an STL fan brought up the idea (with a terrible proposal) to trade for Gaborik and Del Zotto. I merely presented a counter offer.

My first line was using the logic of some of the Rangers fans, and the second line was showing how bad that logic was.
The Blues have scored more goals than the Rangers. The Rangers might have more top end talent, but the Blues have way more scoring depth and it's not close. The Rangers need Gaborik more than the Blues.
Regardless Gaborik sucks this season and would not help us all that much. If a team that needs goals keeps offering up a goal scorer, that says a lot about that player.
We don't want Gaborik because we literally can't afford him and he sucks this season.

He just isn't the player that we want. Simple as that. We don't want MDZ.

I'm not really worried about goals, the Rangers are currently shooting at an unsustainably low rate that will start regressing upwards. The goals will come.
What this trade did from my perspective was adding proven NHL talent that we can afford to keep, while giving up an elite talent that will be too expensive and a very promising young player that is not fully utilized on his current team.
But since the Blues cannot afford Gaborik and Steen is vital to their center depth, I 100% get why the Blues don't do the proposed trade.
MDZ would be interesting. I believe he and Petro grew up playing together and are really good friends. I think Perron (healthy) is worth a little more than MDZ, and I believe the Blues would be better off trying to find a more physical D-man to play with Petro. Maybe they should just let Cole play there and hope he continues to improve.
Reaction to MDZ ranges from no, not our guy to interesting.
Since Tarascenko is understandably off the table, then looks like it needs to be Shattenkirk for NY.
This means Blues need righty replacement for KS, + profit,
Rangers would need ore also for balance,
would have to be
Girardi + MDZ + x
for
Shattenkirk + y
we might have been able to do this before, but with Staal out a bit, can't part with 2 for 1, even as upgrade, we can't do it right now.

It's awful anyway... Shattenkirk is the best defenseman in the deal, but not by that much and who did you want in our top 4 now: Gilroy or Bickel...?
