Pens fan here, in peace

i read on the NHL site that the Blackhawks are halfway through with their season WITHOUT a single regulation loss. wow!

that is an awesome feat. my question is what kind of style the Blackhawks have to get them that record. i obviously don't watch them but i would guess that they are deep with "character" guys who will go into the dirty areas to win puck battles (including their stars like Kane and Hossa). what has been the biggest part of their success so far?

The team commitment and execution of the puck possession game. The Hawks have the puck about 60% of the game, sometimes even more. They generate quality chances consistently, always getting the puck to the net. It's just a numbers game every night. Usually, they are going to have significantly more shots, scoring chances and possession. Add in some pretty good goaltending and they are extremely hard to beat. As good as the goalies have been, it is a misnomer that they are carrying us. It's been the skaters, the commitment to backchecking and the great passing.
