Great to hear the news about Staal. No broken orbital, no loss of vision. He's one tough SOB. God knows that if I got hit like that, I would still be laying on the ice.

Just wear a visor next time.

I hope he considers playing with a half shield for the remainder of his career.

Crazy deflection. Was scary watching wiggle on the ice like that.

Great that he doesn't need surgery. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Great news on Staal. I dont care if it's 2 weeks or 2 months as long as he makes a full recovery.

So glad for him that everything seems to be alright after all. Could have ended really bad.

Pat Leonard is too much sometimes. Pierre LeBrun,Katie Strang and Darren Dreger reported the Rangers were interested in Hamrlik when he was placed on waivers on Tuesday. Leonard insists that is not the case. Even after the Rangers released the Staal statement after 6pm last night,Leonard keeps referring to Eric Staal's comments made in the morning about the swelling needing to go down. Leonard brought Bryan Berard into the situation. Berard was taken to the hospital after Hossa's stick hit him directly in the eye. He had 8 hours of surgery.

You can find the Leonard Daily News articles on their site if you want to waste your time. Between that guy and Manish Mehta(Jets) along with their Yankee beat writer Feinsand, the News has an inferior product compared to the Post. That guy is no Frank Brown or John Dellapina.

Full quote by Eric Staal

Quote:
"I talked to him this morning and he seemed to be feeling a little better and was in a little better spirits," Eric Staal said in an interview Wednesday. "They have to wait for the swelling to go down, so there's not much more we will know about it until then. Maybe later today.

"Hopefully he dodged a bullet. All we can do for now is keep him in our prayers. He's staying positive about it, which is the kind of person he is."

The Rangers released the statement later in the day.

Agree with Darko as we all should. Let him be a full recovery before on the ice again.

If no surgery, maybe no broken bones, vision is ok, needs swelling to go down and play with a full cage

Agreed, once the swelling goes down, pop a cage on.

At Backhand Shelf, Jo Innes writes that Brad Richards may have suffered a “stinger” as a result of the hit from Patrick Kaleta on Sunday night.

A stinger, she notes, is when the head moves in ways that it isn’t designed to move.

In regards to how Richards was able to return to the game, she says “the sudden stretch or crush of the nerve fibres temporarily blocks conduction, and you’re left with a combination of pain/numbness/tingling/the inability to move/no sensation. It resolves in short order, and everything starts working again.”

She adds that stingers can have a delayed onset of numbness, tingling and muscle weakness and Richards will probably have exams done over the next few weeks until he is “truly 100%.”

I lost vision in my right eye for about 3 hours and went and seen an optometrist the following Monday. The doc said I suffered traumatic hyfphema. It caused bleeding inside my eye and the pressure in the eye, which normally is around 10-20 was at a 50. They gave me 4 different drops to take as well as pills that dialated and took the pressure off my right eye. In 2 days my pressure was back to normal and I'm back to taking just one kind of eye drop. I had 20/20 vision in both eyes but only have 20/40 in the right one. The doc says it will come back as the eye starts to decrease its dialating since I'm off most of the drops. I had to miss a week of work but have since returned and been released to full activity in whatever I want to do.
Playing ice hockey or street hockey? Not wearing any head protection?

sure hope it's not a stinger. They need to move on a depth C soon if he is out for a little bit.

Boyle, rights to Zuccarello, 3rd. Should get something descent.

So your answer to addressing center depth is to deal a center? And I really don't think that package gets them much of anything.
