Why doesn't ESPN air Grapefruit League games anymore? Hooray for SportsCenter marathons!

I cannot wait until Garza is no longer a Cub. I was screaming for them to trade him last year when he was pitching terribly for the Cubs and people still thought he was worth a lot.

Brian Cashman apparently broke his ankle skydiving for charity. He jumped out of the plane twice and even as he going to hospital he said it was "awesome".

As predictable as this was, I can't get myself to believe that the name Jose Valverde is actually being brought up (by Leyland and others) as a potential possibility. I mean, I laughed out loud when I saw it. JOSE VALVERDE?! Now, I know that it has no chance of happening, but just the fact that his name is even being mentioned is mind-blowing.

8 to 10 weeks starting now, or starting at the beginning of the season? Either way, the Yankees seem to be really screwed this year, they could honestly finish in the basement of the AL East.

It appears the Yankees season could be over before it starts with all these injuries.

Derek Lowe has deal with #rangers. Brings versatility.

And crappy pitching.

The Yanks' pitching is still good enough to keep them above Boston (and probably Baltimore,) but yeah -- we're in big trouble.

Look at it this way: the Yankees power-driven offense hit 245 homeruns last year, and on opening day they will be without the guys who accounted for 179 of them. That's a big problem that can't be covered up by Kevin Youkilis and Travis Hafner.

Cardinals' 5th rotation spot is down to J. Kelly and Shelby Miller, hoping Miller wins it

Quote:
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Chicago White Sox and left-handed pitcher Chris Sale have agreed in principle on a five-year contract extension worth as much as $60 million, according to a league source.

Sale will receive $35 million guaranteed over the first three years of the deal with club options for the final two that could add an additional $25 million, according to the source.

First year with the Cubs he pitched very well. Last year I didn't think he was that good at all. I hope they can still get a good package for him but I don't think it will be nearly as good as if they traded him last year before he got hurt.

Well, they say Ichiro can hit a lot of homers, he just chooses not to, maybe he is the answer to the lack of power
