They'll try a different tactic and just give up 6 goals starting from the very beginning while throwing periodic tantrums all game (2nd part remains the norm).

Yeah "The Eaton signing was just for depth, so we can carry 8 defenseman"

Sucks that the 2 extras are the ones that should be playing.

You know, on ice coaching aside, he's probably the most idiotic coach in the NHL.

I can understand Eaton dressing because he can be useful on the PK, but why not scratch Niskanen or Engelland? Or even scratch Kennedy and go with 7 defensemen?

dont take stupid penalties and we win. Sick of getting sucked into the philly garbage.

just play your game and play smart and we win easy. Philly is garbage. How many garbage goals did they get last game? at least 2-3 were. Without those they were really dominated

#Pens D-pairs at morning skate: Martin-Orpik Niskanen-Letang Eaton-Engelland Despres-Bortuzzo.

Yeah who didn't see that DAMN IT BYLSMA!
LOL Niskanen-Letang
LOL Mark Eaton
LOL Dan Bylsma

I think Shero is gonna have to start taking some blame for this. He has to know Danny Boy will play any washed up vet he signs.

Hes not gonna sit any of those def. No matter what we think of Despres hes the 7th or 8th def and hes gonna need an injury to play. He should still get in some games this year though our def seems to get hurt allot.

They did this to us last time and it wasn't true. Let's see what happens. I can't imagine Despres being sat. I just can't. Despres is freaking awesome. Why wouldn't he be rewarded for his great play?

Lets just assume the following:

Pens are pumped, come out fast and beat down on the Flyers, score a few, draw lots of penalties.

Then the missed calls start. Because you gotta have balance in the stat sheet. Missed calls start annoying Penguins, Flyers, on the other hand, gifted a few pity powerplays. Score is evened up thanks to a lackluster Penguins PK. Momentum now on the Flyers side with the Penguins unraveled.

50/50 game from there out.

The Flyers have played us this way for years. They take a lot of penalties early, and then really push the on the officials endurance to keep calling them. It has never been effective at getting them wins until recently. They've been better at converting the 50/50 into a win.

Of course it doesn't work if our PK gets the job done. Doesn't work if our boys stay focused.

Judging by morning skate configurations, looks like Despres and Bortuzzo could be out tonight.

ROOT SPORTS™ | PIT ‏@ROOTSPORTSPIT
Not sure why, but Despres left the ice and has yet to return. -DP

EDIT: Yohe's tweet came before Potash's. Despres and Bortuzzo would be the scratches, Eaton and Engelland will not lose their roster spot, and that's not me overreacting, that's me knowing Bylsma's love for veterans.

You should be disappointed that Eaton is gifted a spot over Despres, but not surprised. Said this would happen as soon as they signed Eaton. But please, continue to tell me that Despres has to earn it.

Shero needs to stop bringing in these has-been retreads. Blysma simply can't help himself. If a drug dealer leaves a crackhead alone with a bag of dope, do you blame the crackhead for smoking it?

Oh ****. If Despres is injured - that's the only reason. This is just garbage. I hate it.

I believe though Martin wasn't skating and Despres and Bortuzzo were splitting time.

Was that the BB thing your talking about from last game? Wasn't that because BB had to be sent down for a game. I don't remember them doing that with Despres. I'v said this before but i think the fans have a much different view of Despres right now then the organisation does.

Despres has been our most physical DMan, overall, the past 2 games. He might never deliver a huge open-ice hit, but he hits people along the boards and isn't even in the realm of soft.

Seriously, just trade Despres...if your head coach is going to play a journeyman (at best) who was on the street for the last 9 months over him, trade him for someone your coach actually will use. This is past ridiculous.
