They don't have a first this year, and I don't want next year's first.
For sure a number 1 defenseman, but best PPQB in the league?

That can neither be proven nor can it be backed up by fact.

If you mean assists on the PP then that's really not true, if you mean goals on the PP thats also not true, if you mean TOI on PP thats not true

He's a great player, but don't make him something more than he is

JACKETS-Do they move Vaclav Prospal to a contender, despite the gentlemen's agreement he had with Howson and Co. earlier? Adrian Aucoin also would likely be out there.

Then there's the variables, where something must happen (being out of the playoff race, receiving salary back etc. must occur) These are more unlikely.

JACKETS-RJ Umberger, Derick Brassard, Nick Foligno, Mark Letestu, Steve Mason, Nikita Nikitin

Then there's the super unlikely candidates, the guys who will be in speculation but have a 1% or less chance of moving.

JACKETS-Jack Johnson

I'd love feedback on how to improve the list, your thoughts on who's available, and if I can keep it updated, I'd love to. (I'm still building the list as this is posted)
As a CBJ fan, I pretty much agree with everything you have, however, I would replace Foligno with Tyutin. There is a chance he could be moved but I'm not sure the opportunity will present itself for the CBJ to pull the trigger.

I would also add Derek MacKenzie to the middle list as a possibility but unlikely and move Letestu up with Aucoin and Prospal. I think given his expiring, very reasonable contract that the CBJ might get very good value for him. Not wishing him gone but I think the probability that he does go is higher than the others.

If Tampa is unable to finally play up to their talent level again I could see those guys on the block:

Hall, Thompson, Mikkelson, Lee, Bergeron.

Maybe: Brewer (every Tampa fan hopes somebody takes him out of our hands) Malone, Purcell and Pyatt if somebody overpays for a offensive 3rd/4th liner. But I would really like to hold onto him.

I think either Malone or Purcell will be gone before the next season starts. Thompson would be nice to have next season, but for the right price he is on the market for sure. Bergeron, Hall, Lee and Mikkelson aren't that important to the team.

Regehr doesn't get traded unless he asks to be moved. The guy has a NTC and it would look really bad for the team to ask him to waive after all they did to get him to come to buffalo.

honestly, i don't know much about shroeder but I tend to believe if blum is moved at all it will be for a scoring forward that is ready to play now.

correct me if I'm wrong about schroeder being NHL ready but that's how i feel.

Add MacArthur to the 'unlikely' list for Toronto.

If Toronto falters and loses their playoff spot and are sellers come trade deadline, he's the most likely to go out of the forwards.

I don't think adding a 3rd/4th goaltender to the mix is the answer. (as in to a team with Elliot Halak and Allen not that he is a 3rd/4th goaltender)

OP Derek Roy has much greater than 1% chance of getting moved. If his contract isn't extended by deadline time I put that chance at more like 65-80%.

Blum is a RD right? What about Purcell for Blum?

Why would we ever do this. Our goalies are struggling right now but Halak is a lot more proven then Bernier. Also we have Allen who is 4-1 for us. Allen's stats are totally misleading so going off his save% and GAA would be a mistake. Allen in general makes the saves he should make and some of the ones he shouldn't make. Allen really looks like he could be the answer going forward. We are not trading for a goalie. If anything we will trade one Elliott or wave him and go with Halak and Allen. Also we have Binnington who is playing well in the CHL who seems likes a nice prospect.

CALGARY-Chris Butler, Anton Babchuk, and maybe Cory Sarich could be had. If the Flames were willing to deal their first and third rounders for O'Reilly, then those could be had too. Blake Comeau and Steve Begin probably don't hold much value but they are UFAs

HURRICANES-Joe Corvo is a veteran guy who could be had possibly.

AVALANCHE-Shane O'Brien could provide toughness for a team.

JACKETS-Do they move Vaclav Prospal to a contender, despite the gentlemen's agreement he had with Howson and Co. earlier? Adrian Aucoin also would likely be out there.

STARS-Brendan Morrow's time in Dallas is ending soon, you'd think.

OILERS-Ryan Whitney is a guy who the Oil have obvious intentions of moving. Nikolai Khabibulin if healthy would be a nice backup for someone down the stretch.

CANADIENS-Yannick Weber and Tomas Kaberle, healthy scratches almost every game.

DEVILS-Henrik Tallinder is probably on the outs here.

ISLES-They've been trying to move Marty Reasoner.

SHARKS-Jason Demers could be used to gain forward depth

LEAFS-Mike Komisarek has limited value, but his name is obviously out there. Same for Marlies' Tim Connolly.

Then there's the variables, where something must happen (being out of the playoff race, receiving salary back etc. must occur) These are more unlikely.

DUCKS-Corey Perry, Brandon McMillan, Toni Lydman, Ben Lovejoy
BRUINS-Rich Peverley

AVS-Paul Stastny, David Jones, Chuck Kobasew, Ryan O'Byrne
JACKETS-RJ Umberger, Derick Brassard, Nick Foligno, Mark Letestu, Steve Mason, Nikita Nikitin
STARS-Eric Nystrom, Stephane Robidas
RED WINGS-Valtteri Filppula, Dan Cleary, Drew Miller, Ian White, Jakub Kindl
OILERS-Ales Hemsky, Lennart Petrell, Magnus Paajarvi
PANTHERS-everyone but the kids and Kulikov/Campbell/Fleischmann/Versteeg
KINGS-Dustin Penner, Jonathan Bernier, Brad Richardson, Colin Fraser, Davis Drewiske
WILD-Matt Cullen, PM Bouchard, Devin Setoguchi
HABS-Ryan White, Petteri Nokelainen, Travis Moen (has NTC though)
PREDS-Brandon Yip, Hal Gill, Scott Hannan

CANUCKS-Roberto Luongo, Keith Ballard, David Booth, Mason Raymond
CAPITALS-Troy Brouwer, Joel Ward, Mike Ribeiro, Jason Chimera, Joey Crabb, Matt Hendricks, Wojtek Wolski, Eric Fehr
JETS-Ron Hainsey, Nik Antropov, Kyle Wellwood

Then there's the super unlikely candidates, the guys who will be in speculation but have a 1% or less chance of moving.

DUCKS-Ryan Getzlaf, Bobby Ryan, Jonas Hiller
BRUINS-Nathan Horton
SABRES-Ryan Miller
FLAMES-any forward with a contract beyond this year
CANES-Alex Semin
JACKETS-Jack Johnson
STARS-Jaromir Jagr, Derek Roy
OILERS-Ladislav Smid, Ryan Jones
DEVILS-David Clarkson
ISLES-Evgeni Nabokov (for now)
FLYERS-Daniel Briere
RANGERS-Brad Richards, Marian Gaborik
COYOTES-Keith Yandle
SHARKS-Dan Boyle, Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Ryane Clowe, Martin Havlat
LIGHTNING-Ryan Malone, Vincent Lecavalier
LEAFS-Tyler Bozak, Phil Kessel, Clarke MacArthur (for now)

JETS-Alex Burmistrov

Great thread. Terrific list. Thank you.
No immediate suggestions for changes, esp. as to Rangers.

Consider Brad Richards 0% tradeable at this time, only because the buzz on the boards is if he trades and whatever down the road, NYR would be on the hook for 6.6 mil per year applicable. If league + NHLPA either revise the rule across the board or grant waiver/exception for Richards, then see he has 1 in 3 chance to be dealt.

Gilroy will not go unless a D comes back
Stralman similar but smaller chance he is moved.

Not much chance of that happening this year. No other team in the 9-10 spots are playing well. Toronto will be buyers this year...not sellers.

As a Flyers fan, I am ready to sell. It doesn't happen much, so make the most of it. What do you guys want in a fair trade. Willing to hear offers on all players...aside from G.

Florida
Mason Raymond
2nd Round Pick

Vancouver
Marcel Goc
Mike Weaver

(then move Ballard at the deadline, and re-unite Garrison/Weaver)

This would give Vancouver 6 players acquired from the Panthers on their active roster.

So when Vancouver goes on a deep playoff run, Florida gets 1/3 of the credit for vicariously achieving post season success.

(But in all seriousness I want these players)

Great list in the OP.

From St Louis, depending on return from a knee injury (he's skating with the team now), I would add Andy McDonald. He's an aging veteran whose contract is up.

Sabres have no interest in letting go of Hecht at the moment. Leopold and Regher are likely to be the top candidates for the trade deadline.

Buffalo should trade Leopold/Regher for 2 young dmen prospects. Doubt any team would be up for it though.

I would add Thorburn and Stuart to Winnipeg on the first list.

Their value to our team has been diminished by Peluso. We really like the kid.

That other list that someone posted, I really doubt Slater is going anywhere as we need him on our 4th line. We have lots of players in our bottom six that produce almost zero offense. Slater isn't one of them. For the right price however.
